Breaking Bad 5.07 "Say my name" 8/26/12

Can’t type much. On tab. Go!

Mr. White’s plan gets revealed!

It’s weird, but I’m feeling that the show peaked when the kid was killed. It’s like that was the high point, or the turning point, and everything that happens from now on will follow from that. It’s all downhill from there. Not the quality of the show – that won’t go downhill – but that things that happened before that are “over”. It’s hard to explain.

I don’t feel that way. I think the show has a lot of potential right now to keep ramping up the tension. I think it is doing a really good job with the pacing.

Walt certainly has a long way to fall, potentially. The glimpse we had of him in episode 5.01, from the future, suggests he could go all the way to rock bottom.

But my general feeling of the show is that it often follows a “one step forward, two steps back” kind of pattern. I bet our heroes will have a couple more triumphs and bright spots in their lives, before their world collapses around them.

I’m hearing Jesse say “bitch” after the episode title.

I’m hearing it in Marlo’s voice, from The Wire. Wonder what a crossover show would be like, with those two.

Re my comment about the show peaking, what I mean is that nothing that happens from now on will affect me in the same way. I’m still upset about that kid.

Depressing.

Well that was about the greatest opening sequence in Breaking Bad history.

Say my name

Frigging Isaac keeps knocking out my satellite signal, I’m only getting snippets! Grrrr

The Monkees! WOO-HOO!

It’s official. I hate Walt

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

Aw, damnit.

R.I.P., Mike Ehrmantraut.

To elaborate : Mike has affected me as much as tarantula kid. Will Jesse be next?

Still, I would not want to live in a world without Coke

Ugh, Mike shoulda done it when he had the chance. His “half measures” landed him “out” permanently. I’m going to miss him!

Whoa.

I figured [del]Walt[/del] Heisenberg took the gun out of the bag. But what a culmination between the two.

There was something so poignant and… I dunno… just a grim, morose finality to Mike’s expression and posture when Walt found him dying in the reeds. And what makes it all the more depressing, is everything Mike spewed out of frustration toward Walt was dead on (yet, a big mistake), that even after being shot, Walt didn’t seem remorseful, so much as regretful that he could’ve gotten the names from Lydia; Mike’s dying words showed that even after all that, he understood that no matter what, Walt just doesn’t get what he’s done.

What an evolution of a character. Compare this Walt with the one who couldn’t bring himself to kill Crazy 8 – even cutting the crusts off the sandwiches of a guy he was supposed to kill, but was looking for any reason not to.

Tick tick. Mike knew better.

One thing that bothered me A LOT: why the hell didn’t Mike just pay his 9 guys in full after the big payday? Why keep doling out monthly amounts when it just adds risk and headaches? Mike’s never going to make another penny; settle up with the Ehrmantraut Nine and be done with it. That made no sense to me.

I loved Saul’s drawer full of cell phones. I think Todd’s going to shiv Walt in the back one of these days and waltz out with the 50 pounds of blue.

I think it had to do with them “living above their means”. A regular infusion of 15K of cash can be hidden by an average family pretty easily, etc. Makes at least some sense…

So here’s a little question.

It looks like Walt has built a new, stationary lab somewhere. Correct me if I’m wrong, and he’s still using the old system.

If so, where is it? In his condo that he still owns? The car wash? That little office they have (where Walt was tied to radiator)?

Oh, and so much for “everybody wins”.
