NFL Yardage Pool Competition 2012

Last year’s thread.

Sorry I’m late to post this - it slipped my mind until just now.

If you want a player involved in the Dallas/New York Giants game, post it now - otherwise you can wait for the weekend.

Every week you pick 3 players: One for passing yards, one for rushing, and one for receiving. You can only use each player once per year. At the end of the week, however many yards those 3 players in their respective category added up is your score for that week. For the sake of simplicity, only yardage in that category counts - if you pick a running back for rushing yardage, and he runs for 105 and receives for 45, you only score 105.

So a typical score might look like

Week X
Peyton Manning 312
Ray Rice 78
Calvin Johnson 47

QB yardage totals are cut in half to maintain parity between positions.

You’ll have to determine your own totals and post them to this thread. I started to do it all myself last year, but it was too time consuming, so everyone was nice enough to start posting their own totals. I take the numbers and post them all to a spreadsheet, which is updated weekly and viewable by everyone.

Everyone is welcome to join. So long as people post their own scores, it wouldn’t take me too much longer to manage a lot of people.

If you’re reading this after the season has begun, you can still join us - you won’t be in competition for the total scores, but you could win from week to week.

sigh Fourth time’s a charm.

Eli Manning
Kevin Smith
Andre Johnson

What the hell, sounds like fun.

QB: Cam Newton
RB: Matt Forte
WR: Calvin Johnson

Oh why not… I did come on strong late last year, after a pathetic start.

QB: Matthew Stafford
RB: LeSean McCoy
WR: Roddy White

Brees
McCoy
Brandon Lloyd

Remember if you’re late you can pick players from afternoon and night games.

Trade you.

Matt Stafford
Matt Forte
DeSean Jackson

I don’t think I’ve done this before, so I’ll try:

QB: Drew Brees, NO
RB: Kevin Smith, DET
WR: Darrius Heyward-Bey, OAK

QB: Matt Schaub
RB: Matt Forte
WR: Calvin Johnson, only because I can’t think of a decent WR named Matt.

Cam Newton
AJ Green
LeSean McCoy

ETA: I don’t see a rule against it, but I noticed after I posted that you also have McCoy. Can we both select the same players as long as we don’t use them again the rest of the season, or do I need to pick someone else?

If not, I will use Michael Turner

Couple things, yes, multiple people can use the same player in a week. It’s just that YOU can’t use them again. Second, the convention is QB, RB, WR. So the way you wrote them you’d be scored for Green’s rushing yards and McCoy’s passing yards. In most cases it’s no big deal because it’s obvious what you mean, but theoretically you could use a RB as your receiving yardage player or a QB as your rusher.

I’m in.

QB: John Skelton
RB: Ben Tate
WR: Andre Johnson

Gotcha. Just for clarity:

QB: Cam Newton
RB: McCoy
WR: AJ Green

QB Carson Palmer
RB Matt Forte
WR Mike Wallace?
Sorry for the slightly late entry (haven’t looked at any results yet, in case there’s been a kickoff already).

Crap, I forgot that Mike Wallace sat out training camp and just reported the other day. Fortunately, his game hasn’t started yet, so I’ll swap out the Panthers’ Steve Smith for him. So that would be:

QB Carson Palmer
RB Matt Forte
WR Steve Smith

213 + 62 + 119 = 287.5. Ugh.

Schaub: 266/2 = 133
Forte: 80
Calvin Johnson: 111

Total of 324, if I’m doing my math right.

355/2 + 80 + 77 = 334.5

Pretty good based on my track record.

Cam Newton: 303/2 = 151.5
Matt Forte: 80
Calvin Johnson: 111

Total: 342.5
