It was bad enough that you were arresting that man for what appears to be “videotaping cops while black”, as best I can figure it. That was completely out of line to begin with.
But that dog was NOT THREATENING YOU OR ANYONE ELSE, YOU FUCKING MURDEROUS VIOLENT FUCKS. There’s a lawsuit going on right now against the CPD because an officer shot a freaking puppy. The lawsuit has traction because he didn’t manage to kill the dog, and the behavior of this little guy all during his treatment was nothing but loving. Not an aggressive bone in his body, even when the pain was fresh, and even when the pain was still egging at him days later, just a little love. Proving, I think, the dog was no threat whatsoever to anyone, just because he followed his owner out of the gate and was unleashed (accidentally, because the owner didn’t know the puppy had followed him) while the cop was writing him a parking ticket.
That dog in the OP was not being aggressive - that very last second that cop approached too fast. I can’t really tell whether that last leap was aggressive or not, but I wouldn’t be surprised if teeth were bared right then simply because the dog was so wound up. It was the wrong approach by the cop and proves the fact they need so much more training. I deal with aggressive dogs frequently, and there are definite right and wrong ways to approach them. If they had just left him alone and let him continue sniffing around, he would have been fine. Also, IMO, there’s no reason to shoot a dog unless they make contact - but I deal with it a lot more and can keep my cool better maybe because of that.
And yeah, why were they arresting him anyway? And not the half-dozen other people filming the same thing? Looks like a WWB violation to me, and he was cooperating. Glad they got it on video.

Long story short: Fuckin’ 7 cops ambush this girl and some Starsky wannabe jumps on her hood because they thought she purchased alcohol under the age of 21. So tired of this shit. Cops have way too much authority compared to the amount of power they hold over the lives of normal citizens.
There had been an armed robbery a couple of hours earlier and the police were investigating it. Several people at the area were recording the police, one of them being Rosby. Apparently none of the other people recording were arrested.
Rosby also had his car radio playing, apparently quite loudly. The police said it was interfering with their investigation because it was loud enough that they couldn’t hear what was going on in the area. So they told Rosby to turn it down. Rosby refused to turn the radio down and was arrested.
Rosby had put his dog in his car. When the police arrested Rosby, the dog climbed out the car’s window and went to where the police had Rosby. The dog apparently was defending Rosby and attempted to bite an officer. So the police say it was self-defense when they shot it.
FTR: I just watched the video and I am ENRAGED. The way the dog was moving at the end just makes me sick. Once again, another affirmation of why I like animals more than people.

What the cops are doing here in l.a is fucking unfathomable. They kill people on a day to day basis. Last night 3 stories in a row on the local news of them killing people. And that’s just what made the news. They literally kill someone new everyday. And now they kill innoncent dogs. They have a license to kill and there is nothing we can do. I feel so fucking enraged right now.

Police seem to be particularly entitled arseholes in the USA but honestly, tone down the outrage over the shooting. Control your animal in the first place, Keep it secure and muzzle it in public and I’m sure these things (and worse) won’t happen. They are your responsibility and if they are barking and jumping at police during an arrest situation then I’m not surprised they shot it.

If that guy didn’t want to be arrested he shouldn’t have been fucking with the cops. If he didn’t want his dog to get shot he should have kept it under his control.
The cops wouldn’t let a human run up to them aggressively like that. Of course they needed to stop the dog.
I guess it never occurred to him that taking an attack dog to a police operation and then harassing the police might get his dog killed.
I’m royally pissed that the cops responded to his actions like that. People aren’t trained and are liable to do that kind of stuff. The police *are *trained and should know how to defuse that kind of situation, not escalate it.
And I have a special distaste for the stupid dog owner. Just because you want to see how disruptive you can be with police work doesn’t mean you need to endanger your innocent dog in the process. Taking an aggressive breed animal out of the car and parading it in front of the cops was just plain stupid. Then putting it in the car while leaving enough room for the dog to exit it was even worse. His stupidity was the tragic result of taking a dog to a gunfight.
The dog was literally airborn and in progress of attacking them. How exactly can this be “defused” by any actions of the officers?
They were in a tough situation. They managed to keep the handcuffed guy in custody and under control, and were able to defend themselves from the attacking dog. It looks to me like they are well trained based on the video. It was a job well done.
I agree with Debaser. The cops did nothing wrong. The dog leaped from the car and charged the officers. the dogs final act was to lunge at the cops. This is a breed of dog that can be very dangerous and are often either untrained at all or trained specifically to be violent which makes them more dangerous than other dog breeds and the officers have no way of knowing what the disposition of this dog was.
If you want to pit people, pit people who get involved in Police investigations for no reason and refuse to follow resonable police orders.
Pit people who don’t properly train and restrain thier pets.
Pit people like yourself and others in this thread whose completely unfounded and irresponsible overreactions to the police make an already dangerous job even harder by adding the unpredicable element of mob actions to already tense situations.
Plenty of other people at that scene were able to film the actions without getting arrest or having thier dog attack the cops. This guy has no one to blame but himself for what happened.
