Consider this as a data gathering process to determine the next data gathering process for a poll that we haven’t had yet, but which is just dying to be posted.
There must be hundreds of polls here since the floodgates were opened (when was that exactly?) and I know I have started dozens of them myself. Many of them have returned meaningful results on the general feelings and opinions of the SDMB people who like participating in polls.
To my awareness the best response group in terms of numbers has been Anaamika’s thing on “how old are you?” (or some such) which got over 600 votes/replies – maybe over 700 by now.
But there must be some burning questions that beg to be asked for the sake of knowing more about who we are or what we think as a group.
What are some polls you’d love to see the results of?
I just had to find out about that Anaamika poll, which turns out to be active, as in not closed yet. The response ranges are likely in need of adjustment since the poll has been active since:
Once Zeldar really gets up to speed on his data collection, he’s going to give Google some serious competition! The SDMB will be the go-to place of first resort for all knowledge! (Will The Reader pay him royalties?)
I say, Go For It, Zeldar. And don’t ever become evil!
But it would be valuable information for all sorts of reasons. For instance, the manufacturers of devices (monitors, pads, etc) that increasingly include cameras that can be turned on without the knowledge or consent of the user, would like to know what angle-of-view might be optimal for those hacking in. Is it worth making the illicit views truly wide-angle, or will the secret viewing capture only boring khakis and pajama bottoms?
I was thinking of one of those desert island things where you get to pick one item off the list to have an unlimited supply of. What items should be there to choose from?
