How Could We Do This?

Like many, I feel I have a "home" here on SDMB, and sometimes the posts I read really touch my heart (PurpleBear, for instance). I was wondering if there might be a way for all of us to show how much we care in the way of a bouquet or something tangible from "The SDMB Family", and I would be willing to send a few bucks a month toward a fund of this kind.

God, I know what a headache this would be to administer!, but I know it would be such a loving gesture and would mean so much to the ones who might be hurting and, like me feel that this is a place where they will be heard and nurtured through a trying time.

I don't have a clue as to how we can accomplish this. Do y'all?

It's a lovely idea. I'd support it, but it could be really open to abuse. We've all be burned before by "my son has cancer"-type threads.

Maybe a trusted Doper could be appointed to send out some kind of official SD e-card or something (that'd be free).
