Is there any news lately from crazy Amy and her beloved, the Israeli gangster? Did he get deported? Is Amy’s Baking still in business? And how are the cats?
What do you think’s in the burgers?

The first episode of last season was supposed to be a re-visit to ABC, then they just showed a rerun of a different episode. As far as I know they never gave a reason but I’m guessing ABC sued to have the revisit episode pulled and there’s a gag order in place so no one’s talking about it.
It’s probably still everyone else’s fault for picking on Amy and Sami (?). They’re innocent victims.
:dubious:
Note: it’s times like this when I really want to use a smiley with a halo over the head.
No, they did that episode. But most of it involved showing the original episode and then a local reporter (not Gordon Ramsay) interviewed the owners.
I can hardly blame Gordon for not wanting to get within 50 feet of the crazy again…
From doverpro’s link:
Oh no! Maybe we should ask to have this thread deleted!! We’re all going to be 'hunted".
I had to Google to know who the heck Amy and Samy are.
If they really did act to customers as described in Wikipedia I’m surprised the restaurant lasted long enough to get on TV. I’ve been a restaurant worker and have no sympathy for people like those owners.
Unlike Amy, Baker, you actually make your own baked goods.
That is the purpose of the show- to try to save failing restaurants. When Ramsey went in and said they can’t act that way and they need to improve their food, the owners flipped out.
I can’t figure out how they’re still in business.
I can’t figure how they get anyone to work for them. Is Samy still stealing tips?
From the article doverpro linked to, it appears they just have one employee now:
I don’t know how they are still in business either after that TV fiasco. And the more recent Sept 29 knife attack when Samy went after an allegedly intoxicated customer with a knife - chased him out of the restaurant, caught on video.
The popular theory is that the husband is very rich and is bankrolling his wife’s vanity project, “vanity” being the operative word for both of them.
I’m sure there are some who think it’s all a show and nothing is real, because we know that absolutely nobody in real life acts childish and narcissistic and, further, that all variation from the current standard of normal behavior must be a deliberate act. You know, for popularity.
Is there anything new about his deportation?
I don’t think they got to the point in the original episode where Gordon had the talk with them about how much money they were losing and how dire their financial straits were. But I was under the impression from the episode that Samy made his money in Vegas or something (real estate? or he also hinted at shady “gangster” business ), and the money they spent in the restaurant was him indulging his wife’s whims. They aren’t dependent on the restaurant for income and he obviously had enough to make up for the restaurant losing money over years and years.
But I’d have to watch the episode again, I could be wrong.
I got the impression that Samy was basically using the business as a money laundering operation. Especially since he was the only one allowed to touch the POS system.
The thing is, why go on Kitchen Nightmares in the first place, then? Money-laundering kind of depends on being just one of the millions of faceless small businesses barely hanging onto life. Why go on an internationally-seen cable show hosted by an internationally famous chef? It’s stupid. Not that anything else they’ve been doing is SMART or anything, granted.
I’d be shocked if they weren’t turning a profit NOW, from people wanting to go to the place run by crazy people.
Ironic hipster business basically, almost makes me wonder if their appearance wasn’t an intentional gambit hmmmm.
