Ask the BLACK WOMAN!!!!! nothing is too ignorant......i hope.......

knock yourself out!

Why the hair extensions?

Dionne Warwick…what the hell went wrong with her?

(and was she seperated at birth from Miss Cleo?)

Why is this in the Pit?

well…you see…ummmmmm…okay. it’s a little hard to explain, but i’ll so the best i can.

long story short:
as a black woman in north america, i am constantly bombarded with beauty standards. which apparently means tall, white, blond hair and blue eyes. being black and nappy was not beautiful. so, with the help of the chinese and the taiwanese people, synthetic and human hair is sold to the black female masses. it’s easy to manage. if i really wanted to, i could have a different hairstyle every week.

basically, we want to fling our hair like white people.

Ever been involved with a white person? If so, did you get a lot of flack from your black friends, or passersby? When I was dating a black woman, there were a lot of “aw, that’s a damn shame” kind of comments as we walked down the street.

never dated a white person. and to tell you the truth, i don’t know if i will. why?

  1. people can be cruel. even though the whole ‘everybody is the same’, ‘love sees no colour’ is true, i don’t think it’s widely accepted to the core.
  2. though some do not want to admit it, if dating interracially, one of them has to ‘become’ the other. Notice when you do see a black and white couple, the white girl/guy ‘acts black’ or the black guy/girl ‘acts white’.
  3. i find brown skin very attractive. just as some people prefer brunettes or bald guys or busty women. it’s just want you’re attracted to

I’ll second the “Why is this in The Pit?” question. Are you expecting it to turn ugly for some reason?

Ogre, I believe this is in the pit because vivian’s last thread is in the pit and she is fairly new so maybe she just hit “New thread” without switching fora.

OK - my question:
Both my husband and I were in the hospital in the last year. While there I kept thinking about how I almost never saw black doctors there at that particular hospital. Do you ever go to a doctor’s office or hospital and look around at a bunch of white faces and get uneasy? I mean, I know you probably aren’t thinking they will harm you, but more like “Will this doctor take me as seriously as her white patients?” and stuff like that.

Ummm…not always. I’m Asian and my wife can trace her Irish-American roots back to the Potato Famine. I haven’t yet noticed her trying to be Asian, she still can’t use chopsticks. Aside from an acquired liking of corned beef and cabbage, I haven’t really gone out of my way to be Irish. Is it just a black/white thing that you perceive?

Is it true that a black woman’s pussy is real big and wide, and when a white guy is having sex with her it’s like throwing a hotdog down a hallway?

Just kidding. An ex-girlfriend of mine was black (and she probably still is!) and she told me that was something some white people believed. It sure wasn’t the case for us!

On a side note, the race difference between us (I’m white) was not a factor, but that might have been because our religious differences were too severe to notice any other problems we might have had. I hope the race difference would never have meant anything, but I cannot really say.

Bluepony: i’m speaking of the Black/White thing because it’s all i know.

Rez: you know, i grew up in a predominantly white city and i’ve never, ever thought about that. but i have to admit, i was advised to go seek help because of depression and i didn’t feel that a white doctor, female or male, could possibly understand where i’m coming from. but i think that applies to any race/culture etc, other than caucasian

Esprix: sorry, it is in the wrong place. it was actually in response to my other thread…someone suggested i start a ‘ask the black woman’ thread. can you help me in moving it?

Just email a moderator, and I’m sure they’d be happy to. Sorry to be a wanker, by the way. Good thread.

What’s the deal with some black people saying that white people who are caught in the rain smell like wet dogs. Supposedly something only apparent to black people. Although wet clothes could smell a little like a wet dog, I don’t get the white/black distinction. The one black person that I asked about this hadn’t heard that and didn’t think white people smelled like wet dogs when wet.

Is this just an urban legand or maybe a “black” joke about white folks?

Thanks

I can do that for ya. Let’s try it over in In My Humble Opinion. We done several similar threads in that forum.

Doesn’t bother me, but I figured a mod would be moving it soon enough. As the granddaddy of all “Ask the…” threads, I just like to look out for my heritage…

Ooo! I get to post my favorite quote now!

And, I’m sorry, but whenever I see you post, I can only think, “Vivian! You bastard!” (It’s from The Young Ones. Sorry. Can’t help it. Never mind.)

It has been my completely unscientific observation that black men are more interested in white women than black women are interested in white men.

A. Do you agree?
B. Why do you think that is?
C. Does it make you pissed at black men who think like this, generally? Why or why not?
D. What the hell’s wrong with us honkeys, black girls?

What are you talking about? What’s “acts black” and “acts white”? I can see not being attracted to a certain shade of skin (well, actually no I can’t-- but some people are shallow that way), but if you’ve never dated outside of your own shade I don’t see how you can make such a broad and backhandedly racist statement

A. i agree
B. don’t get mad…but from what i know, apparently, APPARENTLY, white girls are ‘easier’.
C. it does make me pissed. it’s like calling your own mother/sister/aunt ugly…like a slap in the face. MY OPINION PEOPLE!!! Most black women and men feel the same way.
D. ummmm…do we need to go there? (not intended to be ‘sassy’)

like i said…it’s my opinion. it’s not racist…not even backhanded. i live in a world where i am specifically judged on how i look. not sure where YOU live, but stereotypes exsist for a reason. trust me…there is such a thing.
