How David Weber orders a pizza

I haven’t read Weber’s work, but this one caught me and pulled me right out of the story:

“Well,” the voice answered, “I have in my hand a coupon, bearing the imprint of Pizza Barn and the telephone number I’m now calling you at.”

Starting with “Well” and ending with “at” … cringe Does Weber do that?

If it matches the colloquial accent he’s trying to give one of his characters, then yes, he’ll do that.

Sorry it made you cringe. The rules for dialog are more fast-and-loose than the rules for narrative grammar, you know.
