Britain’s Prince Harry turned up a friend’s fancy-dress birthday party dressed in Nazi uniform.
Does it really matter?
He obviously didn’t set out to offend but the press has got hold of the story and given it a lot of play, thus ensuring that many people *will be * offended. Isn’t that their wrong?
It is unlikely anyone would have been offended at the **private ** party he was attending.
Well he acted much as any kid his age would. I would have acted by slapping my nephew upside his head for such a stunt, but that is just me.
In any case, Prince Harry’s job is to act like a Prince. He wasn’t doing it. He is fair game as we expect more from the soon-to-be Duke of Glouster.
Sort of makes you glad your family isn’t Royal, doesn’t it?
Why do say he obviously didn’t set out to offend?
This article purports to quote someone at the party:
Does it matter? Well, the UK royals had links with the Nazis. This particular Prince has recently made an eyebrow-raising comment about race:
I’m sure the Windsors would like to portray themselves as having judgment, intelligence, class and sophistication even though their continued role requires nothing of them other than to breed (unless people get annoyed by foolish and crass displays). This won’t help.
I’m beginning to think that Prince Harry was artificially created in a secret laboratory run by the British tabloids.
Did he look something like this?
No, bigger ears.
Well the royals can be imperious sods at the best of times. Between this, Princess Anne’s reported loathing for the Irish and a certain Mr Edward’s affection for Hitler, I think it’s more a dismissive attitude to anyone not of blue blood than real racism.
BTW the theme for the fancy dress party was “Native and Colonial”
It was a very stupid thing to do. He knows what the UK press is like. He knows there’s a spotlight on him. He showed terrible judgment.
Just imagine if one of the Bush girls went to a party dress as a clan member.
This is probably because the IRA blew up her favourite great-uncle Lord Louis Mountbatten.
pic of him in the uniform can be found here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4170623.stm
The photos, though, are nothing to do with hapless Harry.
Ah, good old Prince Harry. The Princess Margaret of his generation.
Good old Harry - You can always trust an Etonian to screw things up.
He’s a dim bulb isn’t he? - takes after his Mum.
Or, evidently, after his great-uncle.
Err…his great-great uncle. My mistake.
A limited gene pool is bound to dry up sooner or later.
I can see why the timing isnt great ( 60 years etc ).
I also reckon that if there wasnt a really good photo of him, and he hadnt smacked a photographer a month back, it may have only made pages 3 or 4. The journos look after thier own.
Its a bigger shame that this wank story is going to knock the WMD debarkel (?) off the front page. I know which story i consider more important.
Class post Usram !!

I love how The Sun felt the need to include an article summarizing why the Nazis were bad, in case anyone reading hadn’t heard of them. (Scroll down to the bottom of the page.)
Of course, maybe The Sun’s readers are just that stupid.
Yep, bad I dea. Bad imitiation of a Nazi uniiform, too.
I wonder why anyone really cares, though. Isn’t the royal family just a tourist attraction?
I was thinking the same thing. Prince Charles may have some areas of bad judgment re sexual politics, but he’s reasonably intelligent otherwise. This really makes his kid look like a clueless retard on so many levels it’s worrisome. Pretty like mommy, stupid like mommy.
According to an AP article I read most British Jews (or spokespeople for them at least) seem to have accepted Harry’s apology. It seems to me an indication of youthful stupidity and poor taste more than any indication of serious anti-semitism.
