Warehouse 13: Any other Clartie shippers out there?

Myka and Pete are great, really, but I hope they keep up the sibling thing with them and don’t go shippy there.

However, I am sensing some definite chemistry between our young Claudia and the adorable Artie. I think they have the possibility of being a functional, if really non-traditional, couple. Both damaged outcasts, super brilliant, share the same interests…

Is it just me? Anyone? Bueller?

Yowsa. No, I don’t see that at all. If anything, I feel that Claudia sees Artie as a father figure, or a replacement brother figure.

I believe there is a community on LiveJournal for them (but then, there is a community on LiveJournal for everything!)

I like there interactions, and think they have “chemistry” but I don’t know if it is really the romantic kind…

OK, well I guess I should just embrace my new life as a sexual deviant. If Clartie shipping is wrong, I don’t wanna be right!

God, no.

Artie is way too old for Hacker Girl. Father figure, yes. Lover, no. Really, even Pete is too old for her…she’s a colleged-age kid. She’d need another barely 20-something love interest. I, for one, would not object if Pete and Myka were to drag Willow back from an excursion to Sunnyvale for her…
Why yes, I am a lecherous old goat.

“Clartie”???

What’s wrong with going by the more standard fandom usage of name/name (Claudia/Artie) instead of the mushed-together incomprehensible syllablesyllable? I’ve heard of this being done before, but thought it was confined strictly to Harry Potter fandom - and the very young part of HP fandom at that.

I’m not boggled by your pairing. I’ve been in fandom so long nothing bothers me anymore and I can kind of sort of see it. (I remember when there was no fancy internet for fanfiction and all we had was fanzines! Which we bought through the mail! Young Twilight whippersnappers, get off my lawn!)

I’m not really criticizing - each fandom finds its own path - but just kind of a sideline boggle here…

Ewww, no. I see their relationship very much as a father-daughter one. I don’t think anything in the show has indicated otherwise.

^0^ No way, dearie! From the bit with the chess game, I thought to myself, OH YES. Mind, I’m also the kind of nutjob that fancies Snermy and Black Potions, but I think those kinds of disfunctional relationships are very refreshing in contrast to the tried and true hero/heroine pairings which I honestly find a bit clicheed.

I was hoping there was someone else out there to share with – of the over 40 fanfics on fanfiction.net, there are none there as of yet. I’m going to try and change this.

Care to follow my efforts? It’ll be risky, posting so early into a fandom, but this pairing is just too good to ignore! Snappy, sassy, way-too-smart, yet-brash-for-her-own-good whippersnapper vs. grouchy?, old fashioned, in charge guy. As we’ve seen, her disregard for the rules makes for some interesting adventures, but in general they come from two completely different backgrounds, yet are united by an occupation and fascination with the strange and scientific. will she help him loosen up and crack that shell of his? will he help her get a grip on the seriousness of life, or find a way to gain back some of the years he’s lost with all he’s gone through? the whole relationship – even if it doesn’t go beyond PG-13 situations – is one that would definitely be fascinating, and i’m sure the writers are bound to experiment with it, too. why can’t we?

Fanfiction.net - Katrina Marie Lupin. I should have something up shortly.

No way! If they start trying to interject some tired old cliched “sexual tension” B.S. into the show I’ll stop watching. Claudia is basically a little kid in a lot of ways - she’s been on her own since the age of 10, spent part of that time in a mental hospital, and most of that time focused on saving her brother. She looks up to Artie and sees him as a father figure.

Actually, I see Artie as the father figure to the whole group. In the episode where Pete almost dies, the one with the spine, there’s a bit at the end where Pete is cracking jokes about being back from the dead and Artie goes off on him: “Do you have any idea what I went through??” And in the episode with the mirror, Myka flat-out tells him that in spite of everything she thinks he’s great and wants him to think the same of her. And Claudia, of course, behaves just like a willful teenager, culminating in him making her write lines last week: “I will not try to destroy Artie.” (I think that’s what it said, it was hard to read.)

Since we’re sort of on the subject (but not really), did anyone else think that last week’s introduction of the idea of a keyboard-playing Artie’s “lost” father was about as subtle as a semi-truck?

I’d like to second Tangent’s “Ewww, no” please.

And… NO.

I could see Artie maybe with the black woman who seems to be in charge in the background maybe. Haven’t seen anyone for Claudia yet, though I see her dating someone similar to the guy Jo dates in Eureka (but not the character he played on W13 lol).

After last Tuesday’s episode (in which the warehouse almost goes boom) I’m thinking Claudia may be developing something of a crush on Pete. Just something about the startled reaction he had when she ran over and hugged him, and the way Myka kind of looked up and shook her head.

Random favorite moment from that episode:

Claudia and Myka: “PETE!”

Pete: “CHICKS!”

I’m boggling, too, though for different reasons. Here in North East England, “clarty” means “dirty” – which may sound like it could be moderately appropriate, depending on your idea of the relationship, I suppose, except that it’s the very literal, “covered in lumps of mud and shite” kind of dirty.

I could be wrong, of course, but I suspect that’s not what most of the shippers are looking for here.

We’ve only just seen the first episode here, so I wouldn’t like to comment further than that (except watch those spoilers, okay fans? )

I liked that the street number on the restaurant is 404.

Hah! I totally missed that. Maybe I should start a weekly thread for all the little details that the clueless and unobservant (like me) always miss.

The show needs more weird and less sexual tension. The sexual tension between Carter and O’Neill was barfy.

I appreciated that the scary clown painting was in the dark vault, which is where all scary clown paintings belong. There was also a pink princess phone in there. I’d like to know the story behind that.

Me too! There was a brief moment when they focused on the phone and you faintly heard it ring, followed by what sounded like a voice, but I couldn’t catch it. And I’ve been wracking my brains trying to figure out what historical or literary figure might have a pink princess phone.

I’d also like to know the story behind the creepy-ass baby doll. Unless it’s that baby dolls are just inherently creepy.

Seems to be one of those living mannequin thingys, at least.
