Finish the SyFy Movie: "The Giant Snails" Control thread

The following link is to a thread in MPSIMS, about a species of very large snail that is an invasive species in Florida.

Sometime during the thread we started talking about those mutant creature movies the SyFy channel makes, classics like Sharknado, Megashark vs. Giant Octopus, or Piranhanaconda.

Not everyone here posting was also around in the early and mid-2000’s, but for a while there was a fad for writing what we called “Finish” stories. An OP would be posted, and then other authors would join in. The very first story was begun by ivylass, and it was a western.

As you can see, if you look at these stories, we who wrote in them did our best to follow the continuity of what others had written. Usually, by about a third of the way through a plot pattern was set but there could still be surprises.

What I am proposing to start a “Finish the SyFy Giant Snail Movie” thread. This thread will be a control thread, wherein we can discuss issues concerning the story, ideas, errors in continuity posted, and summaries of what has gone already. The summaries can be helpful once the story has got to a length where we misremember details.

I’d like for this Finish story to be done as much as possible in the style of the movies on the SyFy channel. So there will be humor, people getting eaten, villains, heroes, and so on. It isn’t meant to be a parody though, that’s a different style.

All are welcome to participate, but please try to read what others have done before posting your own additions. Your own additions can be anywhere from a few sentences to a few paragraphs.

I plan on making the OP around 8:30 CDT, and when I do I’ll post a link to that OP, so the fun can begin. I hope this works!

I just posted a new episode, two things I want to say, although other authors may use their own ideas.

When I said Simmon’s smile made him attractive I was thinking the lady scientist usually develops, if she doesn’t already have, a love interest. Use this possibility as you will.

Also, towards the end of my post I’m thinking of the weekend search that lab tech=redshirt.

Followed your lead with regards to the romance angle.

I’m leaning toward the snails reacting to injuries as a possible hunting technique, but it’s not written yet, so anything is still game.

I liked what you did at the end there, I’d thought about having it be “not quite dead yet”.

I wonder if mutant snails could shed their shells, to get bigger.

And as for the green ooze, who knows what effect it may have. Nobody has touched it with their bare hands yet, I made sure that Karen wore gloves.

I also wonder how fast these things might eventually be able to reproduce.

So I’m wondering is the fine spray numbing, acidic, or toxic in some other way?

My thinking is the spray should be a way for the snail to immobilise it’s victims (kind of like a spider catching and wrapping insects with its web). Of course it could also have other effects on the victim…
