0x00022 Computer Error

I have a not-so-new laptop running Windows 7. All of a sudden, when I try to run Firefox I get and error that “The application was unable to start correctly (0x000022)”.

Also, when I try to start a few other applications (like Internet Explorer) it appears as if my computer is trying to do something but then shuts down the operation and the applications don’t start.

Any ideas? Google is being particularly unhelpful.

Unfortunately it was not.

Which antivirus program do you use? Does the problem go away if you temporarily disable it?

Perhaps the instructions here to look at the list of installed updates from Safe Mode, and remove any that were installed just when the problem started, will help.
