1:35 is NOT the best time to pick up the trash, garbage dude!

1:35 AM as I type.

I just had the distinct lack of pleasure to be alarmed by loud banging and rattling noises from across the way.

There was a garbage truck. It was emptying a dumpster. At 1:35 FUCKING AM.

This is a residential neighborhood, hero. Try scheduling a little better. Fuckhole.

yeah, the same thing goes on in my neighborhood. in fact, it’s usually past 3 am when the garbage man comes rollin’ through. and my bedroom window is about 20 ft from the dumpster.
fortunately, i’m a night owl so i don’t lose any precious sleep.

what kills me is that there’s always some kind of work going on at my apartment complex (mostly on the AC), and since i work the late shift, the workmen always wake me up. i’d complain but i think it’d be a little crazy to yell, “Hey! It’s 1 in the afternoon! Some of us are trying to sleep!!”

How about 6 AM every day for one year? That ain’t the best time either. And it wasn’t just regular garbage cans. It was the giant metallic trash bins filled with cafeteria waste.

Oh GOD. The back of Barnard. The memories.

I think I am going to cry into my Ruby Red Grapefruit Cocktail Drink.

Barnard? UW-Madison alumnus, by chance?

Nope - Columbia University’s Barnard College.

Denise–that’s exactly what I was thinking. Though to live in Barnard, ** Maeglin** would have to be a she (don’t know what your genger is Maeglin, so my apologies if I’m wrong), and she’d be an alumna. It only went co-ed this year.

Or maybe Maeglin went to Columbia and was near a Barnard building early enough in the AM so as to be disturbed by the noise of a trash truck/other such thingy.

BTW … and this has got to be the record at this place for gender confusion … Maeglin is male. Oh yes.

[sub]I do it to him not because I love him but because it’s oh so much fun to watch him squirm;)[/sub]

You are going to have to do better than that.

And are you serious? Barnard is CO-ED???

For the record.

Pucette and I lived in a CU dorm situated right across the street from the back of Barnard. More specifically, right across the street from where the bastards dumped all of the trash. It was ugly. It smelled bad. And the pickup, dear lord, that was godawful.

I do not remember how we coped. I do remember that we had to pin sheets up over the windows to keep more light out so we could actually sleep.

Ahh. The good old days.

Actually, I never lived in that dorm area at the UW so although I did know that Maeglin is male, I wasn’t sure what other dorms Barnard adjoined.

To put this back on topic, my sister stayed in Liz Waters (aka the “Virgin Vault”) her first year at UW-Madison. She was pleased at the location of the room, which seemed to look out over some kind of driveway area around the side. Pleased until the next morning at around 6 am, that is.

Beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep.
Various rumbling and metallic sounds, some banging.

You guessed it, the dumpsters were located nearby and the garbage trucks would back up into that driveway to scoop them up and empty them.

Funny thing is, I’d have no problem with 1:35 AM, but doing it at 6:30 AM or 7 AM is hideous. Stupid morning people!
