1 lion vs. 42 humans in Cambodia

I don’t even know how to introduce a topic like this, so I’ll let the article speak for itself.

This is absolutely shocking.

A fighting leage for “midgets” is hardly PC, but it doesn’t strike me as particularly wrong. Whatever your stand is on the existence of such an organization, it pales in comparison to pitting them against a LION. A fucking LION! It doesn’t say how complicit in the spectacle the fighters were; maybe their judgement was compromised by machismo. I still wonder if there was some level of coercion involved.

I mean, the Cambodian government not only allowed it, but PROFITED from it! “Yeah, we’ll take 50% of your proceeds. That should teach you not to do anything like this again!” What the fuck is this? First century BCE Rome?!

And how in the HELL did they get the lion cleared to be transported for something like this? How did they provoke it? What happened to it afterwards?

I’m not outraged by this, just amazed by the absolute stupidity of it. It’s just wrong on every level.

Apparently it happened in April. Had anyone else heard about this?

Maybe not…

It’s a hoax. Actually, more a joke in poor taste. The originator has apologised for any offense.

I look forward to it being a front runner in the Darwin Awards. I loved the final sentence of the report…“Unfortunately, he was wrong.”

Well duh!

Ack! Simulpost. It’s still sort of funny in a weird sick sort of way.

Son of a… I had forwarded it to a few people before I noticed the story wasn’t on actually being served from the BBC website. And I am always the one to point people to snopes first…

bangs head on desk

Aw crap, I fell for it. :smack:

It’s a lot funnier when it’s not real.

Now I can say:

“At least the government got its pound of flesh.”

“Their pride wasn’t enough against that lion.”

There was another one, but I forget.

The thing that really surprised me the most was the fact that they could even GET a lion. Perhaps with bribes or lying about their reasons they could. I’m sorry I didn’t give the Cambodian government more credit, too.

I have to admit that I laughed when I first read it. I felt guilty about that, but now it’s not so bad.

Now to go prank some people with this. :stuck_out_tongue:

Coming soon to a reality show on FOX…

And just to be clear, I mean that NOW I will prank people with it. Let me say that I honestly thought it was the real deal when my friend first sent me the link.

I know you were all lion to me, and it makes me feel a bit catty right now

Now, that last bit gave me paws, although manely it was just a blow to his pride.

I bow before a True Master!

1 spoof vs. 6 Dopers in the Pit.

Gonna shoot and stuff this one.
