The 10 10 numbers that you refer to could be beneficial if used enough. I believe that the fine print at the botom of the commercials says that you are charged five dollars a month if you use them. So if your savings offset the five dollars, plus any other costs, then yes, they are worth it.
The deals vary widely. The service I occasionally use does not charge a monthly fee. I save several cents per call. I use it mainly because I hate the phone company. All those services sent me junk mail. I haven’t looked anywhere else for info.
