10 Commandments

What a blatant deception! You didn’t ask the open question “do you think if the 10 commandments had been obeyed thru out humanity’s existence, there would be hardly any of the troubles we see today?”, you asserted as a clearly proselytizing premise “don’t you think…”!

And I’ve pointed out to you what the actual Ten Commandments actually say, but you’ve refused to acknowledge that your insulting demand that others should read what the Bible actually says whereas you have refused to do so makes you a hypocrite!

You might be right, but I will believe what I believe till time is done…

Shouldn’t you be content with this knowledge yourself? You are that much better off than the rest of us, congrats. But, why oh why do you feel the need to tell us?

Well good for you. Run along now.

What was the point of this thread?

i believe i said, " do you think"…how is that pushing my beliefs onto someone else? You stupid fuck.

the demand is all in your guilt ridden head

The point is, I aske for opinions., and it brought out alll of the atheists in the free world. lol

You stupid, felching bitch! Can’t you READ? Here are your EXACT WORDS from the OP:

What a contemptibly sub-moronic ass you are! :smack:

Yes, you have; even in that one post, your referring to a specific religious text as “the Word” demonstrates it.

I’m as sure that there isn’t such a thing as I’m sure that there is no Santa Claus. More sure.

And your beliefs are and will remain wrong.

How funny that the self-professed pious one is the one to get all “Lucifer-y” and inappropriate with the expletive-laced name calling…

That’s not much of an achievement on this board, which is quite known for its atheist bias. Perhaps another board might suit you better, where you can uncover some stealth atheists.

I have reported this poster by the way, whom I suspect not to have genuine intent. Suggest we desist from feeding it.

Yay???

What?!? When I started reading this thread, it was in the Pit! If I had known this thread had been moved to GD mid-thread, I would not have used the kind of language I did!

What can I do now? I don’t believe I deserve punishment because the thread was moved after I got engaged in this.

I apologize and throw myself on the mercy of the moderators…

I C most of you peeps are onboard for “victimless” crimes. Come on boys and girls. There is really no such thing as a Victimless Crime. God knows what you are all doing…Come on, let me be a crimeless victim…I am a good person, never committed a crime…Stop attacking me because I believe in God and you don’t.

I have a funny feeling this is about to shut down…

But! Before it does, I think the 10 commandments are silly. They offered no serious improvement over the religious and ethical systems prevailing at the time, especially the far more sophisticated Zoroastrian ethics espoused in the Avesta.

And anyway, I’m a Buddhist, and thus convinced that our pannasilla system, especially as expressed in the Sigalovada Sutta, are the highest human ethics.

Then the answer is “no”. One of the main problems with laws from long ago is that they fail to account for all of things we’ve learned since then. And laws that have been recorded from the oral history of a small wandering tribe from thousands of years ago are not really relevant to the modern world.

Your OP posed a question that was loaded with Judeo-Christian assumptions, whether you meant to or not. And judging by your responses to the people trying to question those assumptions, you have internalized them pretty deeply. As I imagine you truly conceive it, you are just begging the question: Would the world be better if everyone just followed the laws given to us by the all-knowing, all-powerful, perfect creator of everything? Well, duh, if that were all true, then the answer is “yes”.

But really, what do you mean by this?

Massive numbers of unpunished murder sprees? A wave of serial first-degree parent disrespect? Organized gangs of ox-coveters? Because, in my experience, when people talk about all “the troubles we see today”, they usually mean Negroes marrying white women and scary teenagers who wear their pants too low. You’ll have to be more specific if you want a real answer.

If you want a list of rules that will make the world a better place, I can give you some that have the benefit of 5000 years of additional thought behind them:

There, easy as can be, and 40% shorter than your list. Also, allows for a flexible work week and closes the parent-on-child abuse loophole. And still outlaws murder!

It is YOUR quiestion

Dear Granny Rainbow,

I sincerely and abjectly apologize for my verbal abuse. I genuinely thought this was a Pit thread, but I appear to have been mistaken about that.

I still hold the same views about your posts, but since it wasn’t actually the Pit, it was against the rules to use the language I did, and I’m sorry.
