10 things I hate about Ronald Reagan

Catch a clue, Salsteroonie - my parents never bombed civilians, or defunded programs for the homeless to pay for illegal wars in Central America!

Reagan was an ass. I feel no pity for him.

No, I haven’t. Why on earth would one be <glad> someone died? Ick.

This is pretty despicable. I’m no Reagan fan, but Jesus, can’t you people see the difference between not being sorry and celebrating? There’s no rule that says you have to comment on Reagan’s passing at all, so all this “why should I be sorry” bullshit is just that. You aren’t sorry? That’s great. Don’t be sorry, but at least keep your damn trap shut about it.

I’m not really sorry either, personally. Some people are, though, so show some fucking decency and bite your tongue. When you dance on someone’s grave, literally or figuratively, the deceased don’t care. It’s a real slap in the face to some of the living, though.

htns - I just had two friends show up for my party. Anywhere close to my location? You can come by.

I’ve been a democrat all my life, but celebrating a man’s death, espescially a president’s death, seems repugnant to me.

That’s all I’ll say.

My favorite line from this thread, thus far, is the one about how Reagan “gave us AIDS.”

He must have been one busy guy!!! And we thought Wilt Chamberlain was a slut …

No wait, maybe he walked around injecting people with HIV. I’m sure it had nothing to do with people having unprotected sex or sharing heroin needles. Definitely was Ronnie’s fault, that bastard.

And Otto & Miller, you two are the biggest POS’s on this board. You whine and scream about morons like Fred Phelps, who pickets funerals of AIDS victims, and you’re having orgasm after orgasm over Reagan’s death? You’re both fucking hypocrites. The fact that anyone on this board takes either of you remotely seriously is beyond me.

You’re sick, get help.

I agree 100%.

Personally I wouldn’t give a rat’s ass if you celebrated my death.

There’s a big juicy “post new thread” button at the top of the page.

milroyj - I am not american - and in my view point - his death is akin to hitler’s on the level of evil leaving this planet - and those showing up here agree.

I wonder, will TCM do a Ronald Reagan film marathon? I ask because it occurred to me that the OP missed a golden opportunity to name a Reagan-hating thread in the Pit “Finally it’s Bedtime for Bonzo.”

I agree that the man’s presidency left a regrettable political legacy, but unlike other recently deceased Pubbies, he was not actively evil, but merely misguided. But he was also a patriot who served his nation for 8 years, and that, too, should be remembered.

“Nazi fuck”? That’s disgusting.

Hey, we have a Cowtown in South Jersey too. We would put both of you on the BBQ and feed you to the pigs!

Unfortunately, you’re in Canada and I’m in Virginia. Ah well, I can be with you in spirit I guess.

Speaking of spirits, I have some Bacardi here. I’d definetly share it with you if you came over.

Good job to Godwinize the thread. If you actually think that Reagan = Hitler, there’s no hope for you.

As an aside, it would be nice if you could show some respect.

As I stated way back at the beginning of this thread, "So we should sit silent while the hagiographers have their way? Fuck that. " I’m not happy a man died. But neither will I be silent while those who believe he was the greatest thing since sliced bread have their say, and worse, believe that all proper Americans should agree with them.

You should reread your own “contributions” to this thread then, consisting largely of correcting your own false assertions of fact, before you summon the goddamned gall to lecture anyone else about their own command of facts. You especially have no right in the world to address someone who has placed his own life on the line for the cause of freedom when you can call the Grenada operation a “success” because “only 19 Americans were killed”. That is certainly a very easy attitude for you to take, isn’t it?

Bullshit. Coard was in it for himself, and, like so many other tinpots, grabbed a flag of convenience.

Weren’t they, in fact, building an airport? Of course they were. What else do you think they were covering under those quotation marks?

Take a drink and calm down. You’re babbling. It was an attempt to wag the dog, by forestalling questions about why he got those Marines blown up in an undefined, useless mission in Beirut. We did once, in a thread the Langoliers got, have to explain to you carefully that the Grenada operation was slapped together within 48 hours after that. If it had been actually planned, wouldn’t it have taken less than 10 days to defeat those bulldozer drivers? Oh yeah, those “heavy weapons” you mentioned - a few AK-47’s don’t qualify.

What, another sleepy island with a local Mr. Big controlling the resort industry, like most of the Caribbean? That has exactly what to do with the Spread of Global Communism? Your fantasies are acting up again.

Er, look up Godwin’s Law again. All it means is that if a Usenet thread runs on long enough, someone’s gonna mention Nazis. This ain’t Usenet, and even if it were, there’s nothing in that law about a thread being closed or anyone losing arguments over it.

Whatever, dude, you are being highly offensive, for no apparent reason. Fuck off.

Y’know, this reminded me of a somewhat amusing anecdote… According to one of the editions of the Book of Lists, a poll was done at two branches of Madame Tussaud’s wax museum during the 1980’s: London and Romania. This poll asked patrons to name the most evil person in history. On the Romania list, Ronald Reagan was in the top five, along with Hitler and (this is the part that gets me) Vlad Tepes (aka Dracula).

Of course, this WAS Romania in the 1980’s, but still, the oddness of it amused me, even at the time.

This thread has made me feel, for the first time since subscriptions were started, that I’ve wasted my money in becoming a part of this “community.” Some of you very clearly need professional help. And a huge, honking helping of history, humility and humanity.

The crap I’ve read in these three pages makes me want to vomit.
