That would probably be because alpaca wool is obscenely expensive. I just knitted a baby alpaca wool scarf for my mom. Three skeins of wool cost me $36, and that was the cheap alpaca. Alpaca wool sweaters sell for at least $150 in the catalogs I’ve seen. I can’t imagine that a decent suit made of alpaca wool would run for anything less than $1000.
