101 Sesame Street Muppets

In honor of Sesame Street’s 40th anniversary, Canada’s National Post has this fun collage of 101 Muppet characters (101! Ah-ah-ah). How many can you recognize?

Gotta link?

Oh, dear. Just like Forgetful Jones, I seem to have forgotten. Here it is!

Does it make me weird that the really cool thing about that flash link is how the mouse-over domains that pull up descriptions of characters are actually the same shape as the people being moused over?

I didn’t watch enough TV as a kid, I only know about a dozen of the characters. :frowning:

Burt
Big Bird
THe Count
Oscar the Grouch
Grover
Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele
Abbie Cadabe
Elmo
Cookie Monster
Kermit
Ernie
Telly Monster
Baby Bear
Grundgetta
Rosita
I don’t see Murray or Ovajita which is a bit odd.

  • Actually he is Mr. Johnson, but John Stewart calls him Michael Steele in puppet form. His skits are great, because he never gets what he wants.

Incidentally, that’s surprisingly easy using bitmaps and color sampling…

Baby Bear is jewish?

Yeah, who knew? I always disliked Baby Bear with his speech impediment. My kids always wanted to imitate him and it drove me nuts. And he was annoying anyway.

I recognized most of the older characters, but then I watched a lot of SS growing up. I like Super Grover and Guy Smiley.

Sesame Street characters had some of the worst pun names ever:
H. Ross Parrot
Merryl Sheep
Placido Flamingo

Yes, but that’s one thing that the Muppets (both Muppet Show and Sesame Street) did well: horrible puns. Them and Jay Ward.
