I guess this is a poll, so here we are in IMHO. My daughter’s favorite matching game features Dr. Seuss characters. I know quite a few of them, but not nearly all. And, since there’s no way to effectively google who’s on what card, and because it’s always fun for dopers to show off how smart they are, I thought I’d do a little quiz.

I’m going to list them from right to left, top to bottom, and substitute the alphanumeric code for the ones I don’t know (it’ll make sense if you click on the picture)

Some of these I’m just taking other’s words on. Some I’ve been able to research since it’s easy to google a name and verify it. But, feel free to make any corrections. Thanks for all the input so far!

Polls are allowed in Cafe Society; this is literature-oriented so I’m moving it there, from IMHO.

I RECOGNIZE almost all of them of them, but can only name about 2/3 of them.

See, it’s EASY to name the ones who are the primary characters (or among the primary characters) in a Seuss classic. But a lot of the ones in this puzzle are characters who appear for a page or two in*** Hop on Pop ***or The Fox in Socks. or some such book. It’s very easy to remember Horton or the Lorax or the Grinch… but harder to remember the names of, say, Sue (who sews socks), or the Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz, or Slow Joe Crow or Mr. Brown or…

I agree that some of these are odd choices for the tiles. Like Sue for example. Sure, she had a couple of pages in Fox in Socks, but what about Knox? Or the Tweedle Beetles? They had a much larger presence. Even the Goo Goose was cooler than Sue!

I’m invoking my right to one gratuitous bump.

Looks like A2: dog/fox/wolf thing, E4: Trombone in a tuba(brassception?), C6: bum in a bowtie, and E7: Elephants waving flags are still unknown.

Any ideas? Let me know if you recognize the story that any of them come from - I can work some google-fu from there.
