So young - what a waste.
I feel sorry if he had any kids - they might be orphans now.

I would have entitled this thread, “107 year old engages police in fire-fight…get guns down.”
He may have suffered from dementia, but it doesn’t sound like the SWAT team acted out of order considering the situation.
Tough old coot. Were we all to be able to go down guns blazing at 107.
If the guy was tired of living, it isn’t as if he’d have had to wait long.
I dunno - he’d waited 107 years already, and was still fit enough to get into a firefight with police.
Pine Bluff is famed for an odoriferous paper mill and a predominately Black college.
Perhaps because of the stinky mill, it has a very high crime rate. Parts of it look very rough, like the dangerous parts of the Mississippi delta. We’re talking Deliverance. I attended some meeting there several years ago, and upon driving through an area thought, “Sweet Jesus, don’t let me have a flat.”
My dad always said that he wanted to die “at 107, by the hand of a jealous husband. And to be GUILTY!”
My 70 year old wifey in the nursing home for the last 5 years…
meh
on her dinner trays, along with the listed food items is (sometimes highlighted in yellow)
No Knife.
“I killed Dillinger! Nya! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!”
…but now he’s fallen and he can’t get up…
He told them that they would have to pry his gun from his cold, dead hands.
But it turns out that his hands were just cold due to poor circulation.
They should have just sniper shot him in the head.
No danger to civilians, no danger to the cops, no embarrassing info on him possibly being the original victim in the whole mess which guaranties no blow back on the cops getting anything wrong. No $$$ spent on trials. Win - win - win…
Down side, the cops do not get a big boost for their budget to go out & play military games at the public’s expense.
I have a bit of trouble believing the 107 was not provoked a lot long before the gun came out.Sure would like some more accurate info.
YMMV
Apparently family was trying to forcibly move him.
Exactly. When we have briefings about potentially dangerous situations the number one consideration is always about next years budget.
Wow. A 107 year old guy able to aggravatedly assault 2 people and resist tear gas? I wanna know what he ate. Prolly knives or something.
Clone this guy. Make an entire football team of him.
I was being snarky & you know it. ::: sheesh :::
Although in this case I would like to have been a fly on the leaders forehead because I would like to know why they were in such a hurry. Could not pull back for some reason???
Not impressed with all the decisions in this case.
Just my opinion.
Neighbor Elmer Futz, age 117, quoted as saying “this used to be a good neighborhood until these young punks moved in!”
107-year-old with a gun that he had recently purchased (according to here).
Maybe this story belongs in the Stupid Gun News thread instead. Just how responsible is it to sell a gun to anyone that age?
Roddy
My local news will have more on this story tonight.
I wonder of his family wanted his house and was tired of waiting for him to die.
