This isn’t your run of the mill teacher-makes-nasty with student story. Apparently, Windy Hager and her now husband Brenton Wuchae did not engage in unseemly behavior, but did talk quite a bit. What I don’t get is that the Hagers signed the requisite papers for their daughter to wed Wuchae the same day he resigned from employ at the school system, and then filed suit against said school system for the usual treasure trove of alleged indignities.
As father of a girl who will be sixteen in only a few years, I’m not going to sign papers to let her marry someone who I don’t think is good for her. If that’s what she wants to do, she can do so when she’s of legal age to exercise her own rights. I sure as shit won’t cry and whine to keep someone away from her. You’ll read about me in the Bohunk lockup after I bust someone a new ass.
They did sign to approve the marriage. It’s in the article linked on the side of that one:
Maybe they thought they were calling her bluff by saying she should marry him and didn’t think she would really do it. Still, it seems pretty irresponsible to me and I can’t imagine ever agreeing to such a thing if I ever have a teen daughter. I’d send her to one of those silly talk show style boot camps for obnoxious teens if that’s what it took to get her away from some creepy old man.
