18,000 Palestinians are starving. Will Europe explode in protest?

Terr would have been better off comparing the outrage expressed in the U.S./U.N./Europe over civilian casualties in the Gaza conflict, to the concern showed over civilian casualties in the Pakistani security forces’ campaign against militants since mid-June (over 1,500 civilian deaths, not much outrage, a bit of concern). Pakistan is also an ally of the U.S. (hard as that is to believe at times).

What, are you anti-semantic or something?

In all seriousness, both you and Terr are in violation of several international treaties against exceeding acceptable levels of pathetically self-unaware irony in your posts. You’re lucky that the Hague is so toothless, or you’d stand to answer for your crimes against irony.

Anti-Dentite!

The point which you continue to ignore–and the reason why it’s so hilarious when you complain about other folks ignoring your own points–is that it doesn’t matter what the legal obligations between the countries are, FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS CONVERSATION. We’re talking about what citizens of the countries do, and what matters in THIS INSTANCE is how the countries actually relate to one another, and whether protests by citizens in a country are likely to influence their own government’s attitudes toward the second country, and whether such changes in attitudes would be likely to change the behavior of the second country.

You have not yet addressed this point in any substantive way–all you’ve done is wave your hands and point at different things, then go back to your prerecorded message. So when you complain that others don’t address your points, again: international law violation.

I think you just like to hear yourself talk. Hey, the pit is free.

Teh ironies, they burrrrrrrn!

“Alright Jews! You get a free pass to kill Palestinians as long as you don’t kill more than 18000 of them! 17999 ok but 18001 and we’re taking away your country!” - The World

Or maybe no one gives a shit about Palestinians unless its teh Joos!

Prove me wrong.

I think Terr already did, inadvertently. Quoting a left-wing blog, no less. The author clearly cares, therefore at least one person gives a shit.

I care too. I’d like everyone to have pony. On a yacht.

To be fair, helping anyone in Syria is a crap shoot that might drag you into a quagmire.

Bitching about Palestinians in Gaza is bitching to someone who might actually give a crap.

America hasn’t killed a lot of Palestinians, but the world certainly has cared when America has killed a lot of Iraqis and I suspect the world would if she went after the Palestinians.

I also remember the quite a lot of people being furious when a couple of thousand Palestinian civilians wound up being gutted like fish at the Sabra and Shatilla refugee camps by Christian militiamen during Israel’s invasion of Lebanon in 1982.

To be fair, that’s WHAT EVERYONE HAS BEEN SAYING.

Don’t know about “everyone” but I hear a lot of “Israel is like Hitler!”

Only because they were blaming it on the Jews.

I hope for your sake you’re not British.

It was the British who created Iraq, imposed some Hashemite shithead on them, invaded Iraq, and repeatedly interfered in Iran to a vastly greater degree than the US ever did and are vastly more hated and feared in Iran than the US.

You’ll notice how following 911, we held massive mourning celebrations while following the 7/7 bombings we celebrated the transformation of a number of British citizens into hamburger.*

Please educate yourself on my country and where I’m from before shooting your mouth off again.
*. For the record, I thought 7/7 was a huge tragedy and my heart goes out to the victims while understanding the reactions of my countrymen considering the evil inflicted on them by the British.

We might be on the verge of a breakthrough. Are you hearing it in this thread? If so, which posts sound that way to you? Note that I’m not being snarky, I’m genuinely asking.

Out of curiosity, which is your country?

I’m luck enough, or unlucky enough depending on your POV to have two different countries, both of which I consider mine.

One is the US, the other is Iran.

Hint: Hitler was a European. The OTHER Europeans could have stopped that European before he started the war, but didn’t.

Ibn makes my point (and I can’t believe I’m agreeing with him!). The Europeans buggered up the world by creating artificial boundaries that people are still fighting over to this day.

Note: That people continue to fight isn’t the fault of anyone but those who are fighting and their supporters. I just think it takes a lot of balls to criticize people on how they choose to defend their homes when the conditions that require them to do so were imposed by your predecessors.
