$180 for a pair of Ross Pescador fishing pliers?

Wow…they’d better bait my hook for me at that price.

Good tools will last a lifetime and then some.

When fishing, I’ve always subscribed to the “Harbor Freight needle-nose pliers” school of thought.

First, I figure that they’re likely to rust somewhat- being in a tackle box and used for saltwater fishing tends to do that.

Second, they’re going to hang out in a tackle box and not get used that often.

Third, there’s a non-zero chance they’ll end up overboard at some point.

Fourth, they work just as well as the more expensive ones at getting hooks out of toothy mouths, and for clipping line, etc…
Around the house though, I have a nice set of Channel-Lock brand needle-noses. Not going overboard, not being used in a particularly hostile environment, and not going to languish in a tackle box.

I get the concept of quality & yes I have in my tool box a hand-forged pair of pliers made in the single-digits of the 20th century.

But, that said and for all the reasons Bump listed, here’s what the cheap stuff costs.
