Mundane and pointless, yet not mundane or pointless. ![]()
You git it right the first time – yes, mundane and pointless. Though I acknowledge the critical role of folk singing in the war on facism. Afterall, Mussolini was hung with piano wire, wasn’t he?
I love Woodie, his #1 protégé Pete Seeger and his son Arlo.
I don’t think his guitar killed too many Fascists however and is army career was so short, I don’t believe he had a chance to do so by more conventional means either.
Did you ever read the irony of how he got pushed out of the merchant marines and into the Army. The US government determined his ties to the communist were too close for duty in the merchant marines. However, he was perfectly suited to the Army.
I never did understand that, except maybe that army thought bullet stopper was a perfect use for commies?

That’s both funny and sad. I suspect you’re not far from the truth.
The Army was also a lot more rednecked, especially the more senior officers and NCOs. They probably felt he’d get what was coming to him there.
Good thing he had the Death Ray then.
