I’m wracking my brain trying to remember a shampoo that my mother used (and that I used to borrow). It was in a clear bottle and the shampoo itself was blue. I used it because I liked the way my hair came out, but a girl I knew in college laughed at me when she saw I used it, telling it me accentuated blond hair.
It was not Herbal Essence, since that was green and the bottle was shaped differently. However I keep thinking it might have been a Clairol product anyway but my google skills have failed me.
The shampoo was clear, though dark, almost navy blue. Another hint, was I think there was a 2nd type of this shampoo that was as dark green as Herbal Essence. What I hadn’t noticed was that the shampoos were hair shade specific, possibly for light blonde vs darker blonde.
Navy blue? I did a casual search and it could be a Faberge Shampoo. They did a very dark blue one promoted by the 70s blonde poster girl Farrah Fawcett.
Then a bit later I can see more regular blue ones from Faberge with no association with Fawcet, a bit later than the 70s but I think Faberge did continue with similar types of shampoo.
I found it, though not with the correct vintage label. It was Clairol, but it was the colorfast formula. Blue was for blondes, green was for tint and lasting rinse users.
Can’t make the link work. But I googled “clairol for blondes 1970 colorfast” and both the green and blue ads show up.
The colour of the shampoo itself (I’m referring to the shampoo here) was green. Many of the ads for it on TV featured green blobs falling across the screen.
