1984 or Animal farm ?

Speaking of elementary

I read Animal Farm when I was in third grade, it had been left behind in the summer cabin we rented. I was very indignant about how the mean pigs treated the horses and other animals.

I thought it was a fairy tale about talking animals :smack:

Haa! I’m cracking up. I first read it when I was about 10. Found it in the attick while I was looking through my dad’s ‘nasty magazines’. Read it cover to cover, thinking it was a book for kids.

When I read it again much later, I’m afraid to admit, much of the meaning still escaped me. Finally started dawning on me after people explained it to me. You know, I never was the brightest bulb.

Both, but if only one, then 1984. Keep in mind, however that Animal Farm is a much easier read.

Animal Farm, definitly. I found 1984 terribly unrealistic, and that kept pulling my focus away from the book. YMMV, though.

I guess your favourite book is …22

Read them both years ago. Liked Animal Farm best. 1984 was depressing but interesting.
