1st 15 minutes of Game of Thrones pilot airing tonight on HBO

I’m really curious about how non-readers will react to

The back-to-back-to-back deaths of Viserys, King Robert and Ned? I wonder if they’re going to fit all three of those into the same episode? With Viserys and Ned, about half of the first book is spent building them up to be major characters, and then all of a sudden, they’re just gone. I definitely didn’t see that coming the first time I read it, and I wonder if the series will try give that same sense of shock?
I wasn’t at all surprised about Viserys. Saw that a mile away.

I actually thought Ned had died when Littlefinger first betrays him. The chapters ends with Littlefinger putting a knife under Ned’s throat. I remember flipping through the rest of the book until I found a Ned chapter. “Phew, he’s safe!”

I want to have a watch party so I can see reactions when Bran gets chucked out that window. That was the moment for me when I knew the series was different.

The Red Wedding, if we make it that far, will be something else altogether.
I like having Bran this age; previously, it would jar me out of the book when it was mentioned he was only 6 or 7; even at the ten he supposedly is, he looks small enough to be about the age/size I always mentally pictured him at. It’s good.

Thanks for this thread, and thanks for the link; I had no idea

/can’t wait
