Band Name!
Maybe better as vaginal lube and the little girls… hmmm
I’m glad to hear it. Good to know your still on the “shirts” team.
It’s not just that they’re unpopular opinions, and it’s not just that they’re all unpopular opinions, it’s that they are unfailingly the most controversial unpopular opinions. But I bet that’s just a coincidence, huh?
It was a controversial question. I don’t know if you’ve noticed this pattern yet or not, but every time the negative attention paid to 2.5" starts to wane, he posts something else that’s guaranteed to provoke a reaction. Ah, but I guess his immaculate timing on that sort of thing is a coincidence as well.
I mean, come on. If this guy ain’t a troll, then nobody is.
When 2½" of cock cheese asked if he should join or not it was obvious, to me at least, that he was gonna turn out to be a twat of the first magnitude.
The threads he’s started are proof of that
Matter of fact he remind me of Small British Shopkeeper.
We all know what happened to him
But you know what? Who the fuck cares? Either you have the attention to spare and you’ll give it to him, and then he gets what he needs, or you don’t have the attention to spare and you ignore him.
I’m reminded of people who yell at their kids’ acting out, saying, “Well, he’s just doing it for attention.” Well, sure he is! So the fuck what? People need attention - your kid needs attention - he’s telling you what he needs as clearly as if he was hungry and asked for a cheeseburger. If you can give him that attention, great. If not, don’t. But if you yell at them to stop wanting attention, you’re wasting your energy being irritated by it AND giving them the attention you claim you don’t want to!
Are you kidding?
First, SBSO never joined up. In fact he had one of the most brilliant exits I’ve ever seen on the last day of his membership.
Secondly, SBSO was and always will be one of my favorites. From an innocuous start to pervasively showing up on everyone’s radar after a month. 2.5 just seems to be forcibly edgy and over-the-top.
As a child this taught me to be careful what I hoped for. This kind attention seeking usually ended with a beating.
Sure. And people can attempt to “beat” 2.5" for his attempts, too. But there’s no way to really land a punch. It works both ways - and he seems a better ignorer than the people he riles up.
But that’s the great thing about the internet - no one can take anything from you that you don’t choose to give. Not even your time and attention.
Did you bother to look at all the threads he or she started before stating that they are all unpopular opinions? There’s plenty of innocuous ones, like the Nabrakov thread and the contact lens thread.
Just curious, do you see that someone with genuinely unpopular opinions will always get caught up in the trollery witch hunting, just like genuine trolls? Or is that simply an acceptable price to pay to you?
When there was a rule against calling people trolls, I thought it was stupid, but now I see why they had that rule. I think they need to bring that rule back.
Given the strong possibility such a topic could be perceived as disturbing or inflammatory if taken beyond a simple medical curiosity, it might have been prudent to have included some disclaimer, some mention of to what purpose the answer would be employed. Of course that’s not necessary for most any GQ inquiry, but then this one sidled right up next to one of the more loathsome perversions many of us will ever encounter.
It’s pretty easy really to avoid a general misinterpretation of intent without sacrificing the legitimacy of intellectual curiosity. In the absence of such a disclaimer, the thread was handled quite appropriately. Asked, tolerated quite charitably given the OP’s history, and answered.
As to whether it was curiosity or attention that initiated it, the spotlight’s on so we’ll see what happens going forward. Seems like a good opportunity for a little disgression to go a long way.
I fully understand your position and while I do feel that people are entitled to thier rights, great care must be taken with certain subjects. And please don’t think I am upset with 2.5 but for my own peace of mind I felt it only right to address this issue. Thoughts that one might have are ones own business but brought into the public view it’s pretty much an invitation for some degree of scrutiny. After hearing Jeffrey Dahmers own thoughts on his behavior it is apparent that his decent into decadence began with a mere though or two. His inabilty to control him self then took hold and next thing you know there are body parts everywhere. I don’t feel that my speaking out or any one elses actions have been out of line. (moderators). Unfortunatley, since it appears we are having trouble keeping our own disturbing thoughts off a public message board, someone has to step up and do something. If 2.5 is a troll for them to decide. I believe 2.5 has made his position clear, at least to my satisfaction but others may not feel the same way and it’s thier right to say whatever they feel like they must to bring closure for themselves. I can only inagine what my grandfather would think of things like this.
Not to defend Q.E.D., whose board personality is that of a penis made of razor blades*, but in this case, the rationale for immediate closure really was quite self-evident, and required no detailed exegesis. The guy’s obviously a troll. Obviously. Perhaps somewhat more sophisticated than average, but still a troll.
Why wait? Seriously. Why wait?
*A fairly intelligent penis made of razor blades, but a penis made of razor blades nevertheless.
If they don’t wait, they’ll be accused of stifling dissent and dragging the board further down the road to oblivion. I think they’re trying to be kinder, gentler jack-booted thugs.
Clearly it is something you have thought about if you posted about it.
As for the others - I don’t really understand the argument that we should just ignore trolls and hope they go away. They never go away - they get banned, and people are asking for 2.5 to be banned here. I can’t understand how he could possibly not be banned at this point. Neutron star is right - it’s not about dissenting opinions, it’s about him being a complete and utter asshat at every available opportunity. I find it incredible that people could still believe that he actually holds every one of these opinions and that we should respect that.
Sometimes it’s a little bit fun to prod and poke trolls, but with this one it’s like arguing with a 5 year old. Half of what they say makes no sense, and even if you win the argument, it’s pretty hard to feel good about yourself.
That boat has already sailed.
What I find amazing about Two and a Half Inches of Fun is his record of “days to 1000 posts” and “posts per day”.
He joined on Jan 11 2008, and his 1000th post came on April 25, 2008, thus requiring 104 days to reach 1000 posts.
As of this morning (12:00 AM, May 1, 2008), he had 1080 posts (in 110 days), for a 9.8:1 post-to-day ratio.
Call it what you like… While I know off no comparison data… based on my unscientific observations from nearly 3 years on the SDMB, this is an unprecedented rampage.
Nah, I blew his sorry ass away in my early days here. For the first couple months, I had over 30 posts per day under my belt.
The novelty of this place has since worn off.
Ignoring him may indeed be a forlorn hope but it seems to be the only option we have. For reasons best known to themselves, the mods seem disinclined to ban him, even after countless provocations.
Have you met our friend Jim ?
Not comparing lovable Jim to shithead2.5, just saying 10 posts a day is hardly unprecedented.
Jeez! If I knew all that stuff I don’t think I’d ever have sex again. Besides, “young,” for me, is mid-thirties…so I just “epithelializace” them good and that’s that. And if additional lube’s needed that’s why Og created KY and/or Giraffe.
