Going out Sunday, coming back Tuesday. Staying at Hotel Icon; working nearby. I can take a taxi someplace, but not too far.
I was thinking of checking out the gay district in Montrose, which seems a manageable distance. Sunday or Monday night will probably be pretty quiet, which is ok with me. If you know of a bar where an over-60 wouldn’t be out of place*, I wouldn’t mind hearing about it.
Or any other suggestions?

*Not really interested in hooking up or anything like that, just a comfortable place to hang out.
While it’s much better than it used to be, there’s still not that much to do downtown. I’m also not up to speed on the latest places.
Flying Saucer has a large number of beers on tap, but it’s huge, maybe not be what you want.
La Carafe is the oldest bar downtown and may be worth checking out.
If you’re free Monday afternoon you can do the tour at Saint Arnold’s Brewery.
There’s plenty of restaurants along Westheimer west of downdown, pretty much any type of food you can want. If you want Tex-Mex, the Original Ninfa’s is east of downtown on Navigation.
If you can get as far as Rice Village (8 miles or so), the Ginger Man would be fun. Good beer and not an old crowd, but a very mixed one.
