I want a card/board game that can be played by two people (specifically, racinchikki and I) over the 'net. Something along the lines of MS Hearts, but internet instead of LAN. Browser-based would be okay, but I’d prefer a standalone* program. It must be free; that is, cost me nothing.
*–well, except for the 'net connection
Any suggestions?
Is there a way to modify MS Hearts to work over the internet? (doubtful, but anything’s possible…)
Another vote for http://www.games.com they have a bunch of board and card games that you can play over the internet. They’ve also got a bunch of oldtime videogames (Asteroids, Tempest, etc.), but I think those are only one player games.
For a good site, try http://www.popcap.com Psychobabble is an excellent game, and you can play it with two people. My wife plays there pretty much every night. In Psychobabble you get a board with a whole bunch of ‘magnetic words’ all around it. You grab the words and try to make sentences within a certain theme, in under 60 seconds. After everyone’s made their sentence, they all appear on a list and you vote for the one you like the best. You get points if people vote for yours, or if you vote for the one that wins. It’s really addictive.
Then there is http://www.isketch.com which is a cool drawing game where the computer gives you a word or phrase and a sketch pad, and you have to draw it. Everyone else in the game can see it, and they have to guess the word or phrase. After 60 seconds, the round ends, points are awarded, and the sketch pad moves to the next player. It’s fun.
