So what happens to the socks? Are they banned? Are they disappeared?
And back to one of the OP questions – who were they? Or is that double-secret?

Was that on Mythbusters or Google?
I rest my case.
Banned.
I don’t think we give that information out. Of course, I might be full of shit.
In my opinion, and others may disagree, I’m not even going to think of moving 5734(+) posts out of sight. This is an atypical situation, thankfully.
And, no, we’re not going to tell you the usernames of his socks. Sorry. While not exactly secret, it’s not relevant to the discussion. So it might as well be secret, eh?
I could be misremembering, but I seem to recall Staff members indicating in the past that they would be willing to provide this information to the curious via email. Like here.
My only gripe with you Mods is you aren’t smart enough to make me one of you. I would make Reinhard Heydrich look like the pansy he really was.
Or, you could read for comprehension. I noted that I was not directly involved. The OP asked a specific question which I answered directly. You then chose to make a big deal about an irrelevant point.
Had you simply wanted more information, you might have considered asking, directly, rather than haring off after something to irritate you.
::: shrug :::
Sock Apocalypse!
It seems relevant, though, if for no other reason than continuity. Plus, who and what does it hurt to satisfy curiosity on this point? His privacy? It’s a public board. We get to know Wee Bairn was banned for having socks, so what damage is caused by letting us know know posters Wee Sock and Wee Stocking were also banned for being socks of Wee Bairn?
Another question. When a sock is banned, are his accounts merged so that all past posts appear under his main account name?
No, you made it a relevant point by explicitly stating that WB had posted about “subscribing multiple times under different IDs.” Those are your words, not mine, are they not? There’s nothing wrong my comprehension, I assure you. Obviously, you were fully aware of the facts, but chose for whatever reason not to simply post them at the outset.
As a rule, continuity gets shattered by socks anyway. We’ve got lots of grief over the years for threads that disappear, posts that disappear. Were we up for disappearing 5734(+) posts, that would put more of a hurt on continuity that what we’ve done this time.
We really wish this wouldn’t happen. We don’t like it any more than you do; probably less.
So we’ve eliminated one horn of the dilemma then. Actually, he’s talking about asking about a banned poster or disappeared thread. I’ll respond to emails and PMs about that: “Why did freeviagragoatporn get banned?” “What happened to the Aardvark thread?” I’ve never had anyone ask me about aliases of the bannee. I think it’d pretty much be case-by-case.
I’m not sure any of that addresses the reason for not announcing all the screen names banned for a particular socking offense.
WeeBairn never admitted to doing that in the linked post in ATMB where it’s announced that he was banned. That was quite confusing and got a from me also. All he said was that he had fake Hotmail accounts. It is a pretty huge leap to then assume that he was socking it up here. Why did Marley23 decide that meant he had socks, and then he turned out to be right? And why can’t we know which posters were his socks? We were told that NightRabbit was nongoog. What’s with the secrecy in this case?
Because, as a rule, you can’t find anything for those usernames, except a profile that says, “BANNED”. Their posts are gone, gone, gone. What use would the knowledge do you?
Yeah, why can’t we know who the socks were? Can we guess?
Fuck, Q.E.D., just shut up. No one cares what you think. Your snarky tough guy act is a pathetic charade, and having you yapping at people’s heels with snide insinuations and eye rolling is beyond tedious.
Just. Shut. Up. Everyone hates you, and for good reason. You suck.
(For the record, I am officially sick of Q.E.D.)
Because it’s fun? And, maybe we have memories attached to those usernames?
In internet parlance, I believe Q.E.D. just got pwnt.
