When I purchased my new laptop (Toshiba M205) I didn’t read the fine print that stated that bluetooth is an optional feture on this model. When it arrived I tried for hours to try and make it work, before I realised that I simply did not have the chip.
A quick look on the net found Toshiba selling the chip for $150…damn, it can’t be that expensive. E-Bay comes to the rescue, and I find a chip for $30.
The chip arrives, I take the base off my laptop, slide the chip in, attach the antenna, and I’m off. It takes no more than 20 minutes.
Now there’s no more connecting my cell phone via a wire to the computer, I can dial into the net and surf the Straight Dope from anywhere, at any time. Woo hoo!
