I’ve just got broadband on my desktop computer at home and I’d like to be able to share the connection with my laptop; an ethernet crossover cable is probably the simplest method, but the desktop doesn’t have a network card installed and there’s this little ‘warranty is void if opened’ sticker over the case joints (I reckon that my statutory rights probably override the possibility of the manufacturer refusing repair, but I don’t fancy junping through hoops to prove it - I’ll wait a while for the machine to ‘settle in’ before I crack the case)
Then there’s the possibility of a USB wireless netwok adaptor, but those are still quite expensive (about £100 for a 'starter kit comprising one USB and one PCMCIA adaptor)…
And then there are these little USB bluetooth dongles for £20 each - this looks a great idea, but will I be able to set up TCP/IP across the connection that these provide?
