2003 Server & XP Workstation problem

I feel embarrassed posting this problem but I’m out of solutions.

At home I have a domain (levy.lan) running on a 2003 Server

The computer I’m presently using does not have any local accounts. When I use it I log into an account that exists on the Domain.

Earlier today I was unable to log in as the user I use or the domain administrator account. I was getting a message that the domain controller was unavailable. If I tried to log in to the local system as the local administrator (which is the only local account) I could ping the 2003 server by name and IP.

I tried resetting from the 2003 server my user account but it didn’t do any good.

I was finally able to log back in after doing the following

  1. On the 2003 Server, Removing the computer account
  2. On the XP system switching from the domain to a workgroup then rebooting
  3. On the 2003 Server creating the computer account again
  4. On the XP system Re-joining the domain and rebooting

Now when I log in I no longer have access to my old desktop and installed programs on it.

Under Documents and Settings I show

Emanuel Levy (which is what is being used now)
and Emanuel Levy.LEVY (which is where all my old files and settings are)

I can’t figure out how to go back to using the profile that is Emanuel Levy.LEVY
