I’m not exercising due to my ankle and it’s that time of the month, so I am UP. Damned stupid body. Back to the dreaded 177, damn it all.
I’ve finally lost the bloat caused by my weekend of drinking and debauchery. Last night it was nice enough to walk outside and my husband and the dog came along with me. I’ll be getting Dance Dance Revolution for the Xbox 360 next week so I’m excited about that.
I don’t know if anyone here is as big of a chip lover as I am, but have any of you tried Genisoy Soy Crisps? They’re seriously awesome and come in yummy flavors, not just “cardboard” like most healthy trying-to-be-chips. I love BBQ myself and their BBQ is to die for. They are kind of expensive, but to me they’re worth it. They’re also only 110 calories for a 17-chip serving.
Where do you find these, and how is the protein content?
I got them at my local Hy-Vee grocery, but you can order them online here. My co-worker found them at Wal-Mart. Looks like 7g of protein per serving.
Ooooh. Those look yummy! Thanks!
You’re most welcome. I like to share good things when I find them.
That’s more or less what I’ve been doing. The snack/meal sizes vary a little bit, but that’s pretty close to how it’s working out. Diet bars are my friends; they have about the right amount of calories for one of these small meals, they have a pretty good mix of nutrients, and many of them these days are pretty tasty. South Beach Diet breakfast bars and meal replacement bars, Pria Complete, and Zone Perfect are all pretty good … I keep a pile of those in my desk drawer at work for mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks. Then I walk to Subway for one of their low-fat sandwiches for lunch. (With no cheese, no dressing, and no side of chips or anything, they check in around 250 calories or so, within the range of what I’m looking for in a single meal. Plus, it’s a nice little walk. )
I hadn’t considered meal replacement bars, SCSimmons, mainly because I have been trying to eat as little processed food or what I call “frankenfood” as possible. Diet bars and meal replacement bars just seem so…artificial.
Still it would be good to have them on hand for those days when I don’t have my plan together (like today).
I haven’t actually tried my plan yet, just been thinking about it. I’m inspired though, hearing that Norinew’s friend lost 90 lbs. Maybe I’ll give it a go next week after I’ve had a chance to visit the grocery and stock up on some items.
Today I dragged an ancient pair of slacks out of the bottom of my drawer and put them on and they actually fit well enough to wear to work. The last time I tried these on they were embarrassingly tight. Progress not perfection.
Velvet, that’s what we like to call a Non-Scale Victory (NSV). Good for you!
I am fat. And can’t exercise, and want to eat everything. I’ve never felt discouraged like this before during my whole weight loss, and it can just stop now thankyouverymuch. Twelve freakin’ pounds. TWELVE.
But twelves is a small fraction of what you’ve lost in total. And you know what the problem is, and you know what you’re going to do to fix it, once your ankle heals. So try not to get too down about it.
I’m doing the happy dance here!! I weighed in this morning, and I finally broke out of the 170’s. I’m down 7.4 pounds from my last weigh in two weeks ago, and am now at 167. Just 17 more pounds to go to goal weight!
Eh. I gained 3 pounds this past week. I may have been a little too enthusiastic with “approved” snacks…
I’m down 1.8 lbs here, for a total of 49.6 lbs so far. So close!
It has been a few days since I have done a full workout. Going to the gym today was one of the hardest things I have done so far, but I did it. 60 minutes on the treadmill, 3.5 incline, 3.2 mph, 820 calories burned.
Everyone seems to be doing so well (except me). Keep up the good work.
Aw, Ginger, don’t be so hard on yourself. It’s not easy to exercise with a bum ankle. I’m sure you will get back into your routine when it heals.
I know it’s disheartening because I’m dealing with my heel spur has been very painful lately. I haven’t done as much walking as I had been because of it and haven’t lost as much weight as I would have liked. Plus, ol’ Aunt Flo was in town, which didn’t help at all. I was so disappointed at having no weight loss, I actually fell back on my old comfort buddy, food, before I realized what I was doing.
(Hit the wrong button and didn’t get my edit in in time.)
But that doesn’t mean I have to give up. I’m starting back with the good eating habits again and doing what walking I can, when I can. I’m going to check out some other exercise options too.
Don’t you give up, either, Ginger. You’ll get through this and your ankle will heal. Just know that we’re all hoping the best for you and know you’ll get back on track soon.
(Gee, it would be nice to have ten or fifteen minutes to edit posts.)
You are being way to hard on yourself there. You are doing fine, and will get to your weight goal eventually. You have worked far too hard to think that what you have done for yourself, and your family, is nothing other than a success.
Don’t make me come down there and cheer you up!
This week, I lost another pound. This is great, because I basically fell off the wagon this week–I can count four times when I ended up in a social situation, and just ate without counting points. I don’t regret any of them, but I’m definitely back on the straight-and-narrow now, up till and possibly including a business trip I have to take in about ten days.
This week, I found out that Good Seasons Italian dressing is zero points. This has made salad for lunch a desirable thing, and I credit the weight loss to it.
Getting down one more pound would be a milestone for me, because I remember the scale saying 170, 173, 177, and 180. I don’t ever remember it saying 178.
180/178/150
This morning I weighed in at 207.8 with my fancy new Tanita BC554. Since my old scale could only measure to the half pound, I’ll call it 4 pounds for the week.
The weather has not been cooperative, so I did my most of my workouts indoors this week. 192.9 miles in 12 hours, 6 minutes, an average of nearly 16mph. If I can keep that pace up, I hope to finish my Century next Sunday in about 6 hours on the bike.
Because of the upcoming ride, I’m going to taper off the workouts a bit. Today will be the first off day this month.
Congratulations KatieCats! I’m dying to break out of the 170’s but I’m still here. Actually back up to 176 due to a week of less than restrained eating and way too much wine.
Hang in there Ginger! You’ll get through this. Do you have any free weights? Maybe this could be upper body workout time for you. At least it’ll get you moving a bit while you’re off your feet.
I’m shopping tonight in preparation for my new eating plan focusing on 6-8 small (200 calorie) meals rather than my usual three big meals.
