:smack: I mentioned a cat without a picture! I have a digital camera, but don’t have a clue how to actually get pictures online. You’ll have to take my word that she’s a beautiful tortie, albeit a rather fat one.
It was not a good weekend for me, but I gave myself a pass. It was the first time I’d had any alcohol since New Year’s Eve. I got trashed, then came home from the bar and pigged out on Doritos. Then I had cake and ice cream for my mother-in-law’s birthday yesterday afternoon. Oh well, a girl’s got to have a little fun once in a while, doesn’t she? This week it’s back to healthy eating and nightly exercise.
This morning I weighed in at 212, down 3 pounds for the week.
It was a beautiful day yesterday, and it was difficult to make the decision whether to watch the Tour of California Prologue in the City or to go on a ride myself. I ended up riding a 56 mile loop out to the coast. Not even the 60 degF temperature, 15+ mph winds, or even the shard of glass (and subsequent roadside flat) I picked up made me regret my decision. This was the third time I’ve climbed Tunitas Creek Road, but the first time I didn’t need to stop and rest midway. I didn’t even need to change to my granny gears.
Next weekend I’ll be trying for 80 miles, so I can be ready for my first Century on March 4th.
This week, I’m back down a pound. Wonder if that will stick. Determined to eat more vegetables.
180/179/150.
Wow! John T. Conklin, 56 miles! I’m impressed! Wish I could ride like that.
Sigh. I’ve got to stop checking the scale every few days! This morning I’m upset over having gained 10 ounces. A little obsessed, you say? Oh no, not me.
I so want to be under 200 pounds by the end of this month but now that’s 5 pounds and at least one ounce away. And Aunt Flo is due to arrive soon with all of her bags weighted down with wonderful water. And the weather has become too yucky for walking.
I’ve just got to remember that I’ve done well and will continue to do so and my family and friends are thrilled that I’ve lost so much weight already.
Besides, the end of the month is an arbitrary date. I will be under 200 pounds soon. Just not as soon as I’d hoped. Maybe. Or maybe not. Who knows? Aunt Flo and the weather might cut me a break.
Anyway, this is the goods on me:
245/205/130
I weighed in at 174.5 (179.5/174.5/140) today which is fine with me since I had an off week both walking and eating.
Zelie I love your idea! I’m going to have to figure out what my destination is.
I went to the American Diabetes Assn. web site after reading a post in GQ asking questions about it. I took their Diabetes risk assessment and it told me I’m a high risk (10 pts). I changed one answer to their questions, my weight, and that lowered my risk to 6. I guess I didn’t know how much weight was a factor in the development of type II diabetes. It has certainly given me incentive to work harder.
Oh my god. I measure as a 36 D or DD. I started as a 42 of 44 D or DD. I have bought SO MANY bras over the past few years. I have tried on SO MANY more. Bra shopping? Rather stick forks in my eyes, but it’s a necessary evil.
JAYJAY, you bumface. Running away from me lately isn’t going to be much of a workout. I might throw my cane at you, though.
We went to NYC yesterday. I ate pastrami and don’t really care if I have a loss or not this week (although I didn’t overdo it at all). Not only am I laid up, but it’s that time of the month approaching and as I get older, my body is unpredictable with its water retention. Wooo, like you all want to hear that.
Sing it to me, Sister! Luckily, I live near Reading, PA. Reading has a whole slew of outlets and their primary one is Vanity Fair. 400,000+ bras all in one place, so you can walk in, grab 20 different styles, try them all on, then go back for the assortment of colors if you need to. And believe it or not, they are relatively inexpensive there.
For those of you who’ve never shopped for bras, they are bleepin’ expensive most of the time. And when you’re transitioning from one size to the next, you don’t want to spend $30 each for them or more. But continuing to wear ones that don’t fit is not an option either.
The main problem is decifering which size you are and which ones fit the best. I know for me, I’m having all kinds of trouble with figuring out what sizes to choose to even try on now. Most stores no longer have a saleslady to measure you and help figure it out. Like the standardize clothing sizes thread (LinkiePooh), they are all different even though they’re supposed to be standard.
It’s a huge factor. And one of the driving forces behind my wanting to lose. I had the gestational form of diabetes with both babies. The ADA also says that having gestational diabetes increases your chances to develop type 2 diabetes years later. I had enough of those needles for a lifetime and I only had to inject once a day.
That’s 100 miles I’m willing to drive. Send me an email and we’ll get a date set. I really need some new bras. Let’s make it when it’s nicer, though.
Hi, guys, it’s me again! I missed posting last week so this is a two week (+ one day) report!
This morning I weighed in at 268.6
Last report: 275.6
Two week loss: 7 lbs
Total (9 weeks): 32.4 lbs
There are times I really have to struggle–the candy by the grocery store registers beckons insidiously (I’m dying for a Snickers bar, y’all)! And I want FRENCH FRIES desperately. OK, when I bought Happy Meals for my children, I sneaked a few. But I want a WHOLE ORDER–EXTRA LARGE!!! And ice cream, too–a nice large cone would be just the thing!
So I’ve decided that when I get a few pounds past the 50 lb. loss mark, I’m going to treat myself to ONE afternoon off the leash. Not like I’m doing sometimes right now–eating off the salad bar for the most part. No, it’ll be pizza or tacos or a hamburger. I figure that if I can look forward to that once in a while, then I can be patient NOW and not give in to too much temptation. And it really does help me stay good, knowing that pretty soon, I’ll be gifting myself with one guilt-free afternoon. I’ll plan the same for the 100 lb mark and again for the 150 lb (10 pounds shy of my final goal!).
Coming in here for encouragement is really a help and I want to thank you all!
Carla

(PS–could someone tell me how to do the picture thing so that I can post some “before and after” shots eventually? In fact, I’d just love to see some of you guys, too!)
Well, first you need some webspace. It’s pretty easy after that.
Here are a before picture and an sort of current picture of me. The before is January 2003 at the NYC Megadopefest and the after is December 2006. Sorry just a head picture.
I’ve been silently participating in this group - hope that’s okay!
Today I finally bit the bullet and went for new work pants. I’ve only lost 16lbs but that has resulted in my going from a very snug 12 (with the snap undone most of the time for comfort) to a size 8 - woohoo!
Ten more pounds to go but I’m so sick of Lean Cuisine meals that I could puke the remaining 10 lbs off
That’s quite a feat! I take about 15 pounds to lose a size.
I’m down 10lbs. more this month, for a total of 116lbs. so far. Yay.
I have found one more incentive for losing weight here. This week I started a part time job with this company. I would love to be able to buy a leather bomber jacket for the fall.
I guess I haven’t posted an update lately … Scale reads 304.5 this morning, current smoothed average is 307.8. (Down from 330 on January 1st of this year. YAY!)
Seems like everyone is doing well. Maybe that’s why this thing keeps falling off the front page.
I keep feeling like I’m eating too much this week and then I’m surprised when I step on the scale in the morning. (173.5 this morning) Don’t know what’s up with that.
I’ve been formulating a plan that involves eating around 200 calories 8 times a day for a total of 1600 calories. The logic behind that is that eating more frequent, smaller meals, will help keep the metabolism stoked. Problem is it takes more than a little planning when I’m at the office all day.
Naw, some of us just aren’t reporting in…
I used to work with a woman who lost a bunch of weight that way (90lbs or more). She said the main reason it worked when other diet plans didn’t was that she was never hungry.
