Congrats, US. Here’s your ticket on working your way up. Don’t fail your people and the rest of the world, mm’kay? No matter how it looks, when US catches a flu, the rest of the world sneezes.
MSNBC just called Colorado for Obama. YAY!
Yes!
OMG! The times, they are a-changing!
This is amazing!!!
We can finally, FINALLY, turn the page on the 8 year nightmare and start fresh.
Obama will make mistakes and there is no silver bullet for any of our problems, but we made a CHOICE tonight: a choice against negativity, diviseness, and hate.
We are ALL Americans tonight and I am damned PROUD to be one tonight!!!
YES.
CNN: 2 minutes until McCain speaks.
Colorado for Obama.
This is stunning.
Thank you, America. Thank you to everyone who put boots on the ground, who made phone calls and canvassed neighborhoods. Who fundraised and blogged. I feel so blessed to have been a part of this historic campaign.
Thank you everyone here for all of your support over the last year. I’m equally blessed to be a part of such a fine group of people.
Thank you.
This means everyone can remove the “Obama” and “McCain” from their location fields now, right?
I feel like I just watched the first man walk on the moon. And I feel we’ve gone just as far. It’s a good moment to be an American.
He’s now got Florida according to MSNBC.
I’m just hoping NC goes blue. It better. I tried.
Atleast Dole got crushed. Bitch deserved it.

I say this as an old-school Republican who DID vote for Obama, Congratulations, Mr. President-Elect, you ran an excellent, moral campaign, with integrity and honor, and I raise this delicious, crisp glass of Woodchuck Draft Cider, brewed in Vermont, the first state to go Obama, in your honor, Bravo, Sir!, well played
(and this is from someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, but I figured this was a special occasion…)
I’m surprised and pleased----but please get the camera off Al fucking Sharpton.
Good morning.
And I mean: GOOD morning!
I’m in tears. I was happy when Clinton won, but it didn’t feel anything like this. How often do we get to see history made, in a good way?
I’m not one for praying but… Dear Lord, please keep this man safe!
Stop looking at me, I am NOT crying!

McCain making his concession speech any minute
Not that it matters now, but MSNBC just called Florida for Obama. I’m so proud of my state!
And now, at long last, I can actually say…Stick a fork in John McCain - he’s done. Tonight, Barack Obama will be elected President of the United States. It’s been so many months I can’t even remember when it started for me. But along the way I saw him speak in Bryant Park, and could tell that something was happening. I was lucky enough to have a ticket to be in studio for Obama’s appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. I remember, after the taping, Jon came out and asked the audience what they thought of Sen. Obama - the crowd went nuts. Then he asked if we thought he could be the next president, and there were maybe a handful of us that applauded. Then the primary race. I remember being in a poker room in Las Vegas - I was about to leave, and a twenty something kid was watching the Rev. Wright highlights on TV and talking trash about Obama. I said to him - “Have some respect, you’re talking about the next president of the United States”. I’m not sure I even believed it at that point, but the kid looked at me with such shock, like there was no way that could possibly happen.
Then Hillary’s basement acceptance speech as concession speech. The fight over Michigan and Florida, which I watched in a train station bar in Philadelphia with the sound off and the closed captions on. Then finally, nomination. Convention. Palin. Campaign suspension. Saturday Night Live. All those goddamn emails from the Obama campaign. Hours and hours spent reading The Daily Dish, TPM, and fivethirtyeight.com. And all the while here on the dope. With the only folks I knew who was seeing what I was seeing.
Moments ago as I started typing, Florida was called for Obama, and with Florida came The Call. And Dan Rather…“Barack Hussien Obama is president elect of the United States.”
Sorry for the rambling post. I can’t think of anywhere else in the world I could have put it.
Best $700 I have ever spent in my life.
I love this country! USA! USA! USA!
