The Koreans just handed Greece their ass. Hard to believe they were ranked 13 and Korea in the 40s.
That’s why they still play the games.

As of this moment, all bickering about Maradona as a coach ceases, go Diego., bring back the cup!.
So… do we set the over/under for Greek goals in the tournament to 1 or what? Twelve straight World Cup goals given up without a score–that can’t do much for team morale.
I’d love to see Nigeria win this match and not just because I put a few quid on them this morning while I was out for a cycle.
Goooooooooooooooll!!! :d:d:d:d:d:d:d
Glad to have you join us Eugene! And I agree.
Guy/gals, meet goliath74, a hard-core no nonsense Ukrainian footy addict.
Welcome to the gathering place for the Dope’s footie contingent, Goliath74. Grab yerself a beanbag and plonk yerself down.
Man, Nigeria’s goalie certainly not intimidated by Messi. That was some save!
Argentina 1 - Nigeria 0, sales of cardiovascular medicine up by 150% in Argentina…
Ahhhhhh…
One-nil, the Argentines take it. Much more entertaining game I think than Korea/Greece. Poor Uche. Had the tying goal on his foot and didn’t see his teammate behind him nor be able to settle the ball down. That thing does look to have a bit of flight to it, huh?
Fair win by Argentina yet hardly impressive with their patchy play. Di Maria MIA and Veron tries but the years don’t lie – thus they suffer from a lack of creativity in midfield which obviously affects the way Messi plays; which, as opposed with Barsa, is basically by himself.
Disappointing Nigeria, who could hardly string three passes together, never mind put in a good cross/FK/CK. Enyeama, not sure where he plays now, but he reminded me of Iker in a few of his exceptional saves. MOM for sure.
I’ve not been impressed by anybody so far. I was particularly disappointed in France, although I guess I shouldn’t be, judging by how they got here. Hopefully Spain or the Netherlands put out some really nice attacking soccer in the next week.
I’m pretty pumped about the US game. I’d be pleased with a draw, and if Gooch had been playing well in the run up I might even expect that, but stopping Rooney with their backline? I dunno. Bradley better play out of his mind in the midfield to shield them from service.
Don’t worry, you’ll be pretty dazzled once England thump eight goals past a lacklustre USA team.
Best game so far Argentina - Nigeria. Sorry Nigeria didn’t get one in, they had some nice play.
Next up … well lets see how it goes lads!
Crouch is a sub? What’s up with that?
BBC reports:
18:54 Commentary Official White House release:
Finally, the President [Barack Obama] and the Prime Minister [David Cameron] agreed to disagree on the desired outcome of the 12 June USA-England World Cup soccer match; the President noted that the historical record of previous World Cup matches between the United States and England favors the United States and the President wagered the best lager against the best beer in America on an American win over England."
US v England is about to start! Anyone else watching?
During the Argentina-Nigeria game an Argentinean player was preparing to do a free kick when I did notice a sharp circle-oval of green light around his feet, a green laser? IIRC some of them can be harmful to your eyes, yet another thing to worry that fanatics in the crowd can bring to a game?
I also noticed that, I’m glad that person didn’t use it for greater harm during the match.
As I’ve been mentioning to my English friends, they need to win tonight if they want to shut us Yanks up. If it’s a draw, it’s a moral victory for the US. Don’t believe us? We’ve been arguing that that little disagreement back in 1812 ended in a tie score for nearly two centuries now
Go Team USA!
Quite a few people I would imagine But yes, I’m here.
