I knew I wouldn’t be the only one that spotted that. Definitely something for officials to keep an eye out for.
I am. I assume a US win would be considered an upset. and even a draw would be considered a good result?
Yes. USA is seen very much as a rookie team; naive upstarters who don’t have a chance. I think England will win, but it won’t be the walkover that they seem to think it will be…
Let’s watch together!
Nah, don’t think I’ll bother.
But really, for all the excitement, I’m telling myself that it is only an opening group game, and a game between what should be the two strongest teams in the group. I’ll be reasonably happy with a draw. We have come back from worse, and the superstitious part of me says that England only have two really good performances in them per tournament, so why waste one of them now? Sorry if that sounds negative, but it is the voice of having watched England over more tournaments than I care to mention.
Deal. GEAUX U.S.A.!
And I kinda like the President making a beer bet on the game.
I’m in the office, after failing to check the schedule before volunteering to do a Saturday shift some time ago. But that’s what the internets are for, right?
*“A pint of beer and a sausage roll
Come on England, give us a goal!”
“Eng-er-land, Eng-er-land, Eng-er-land, na na.
Eng-er-land, Eng-er-land, Eng-er-land, na na.
Eng-er-land, Eng-er-land, Eng-er-land, na naaaaaa.
We’re. Gonna Score. More goals. Than. You.
ENGLAND! ENGLAND!!!111!!""!""11”! *
Who are the little kids in the locker room? Are they like those little girls who go out and pick up the flowers in figure skating?
I think England’s gonna win but the one thing about Americans in every sport is that they almost always go for it 100%. I expect great spirit from them and there is a chance of upset.
Nice of them to play My country Tis of Thee for the Brits
Actually, the correct name of the song is America. Common misconception.
Tradition in big matches for players to come out holding a kid’s hand. A way to get them involved with the game.
BTW, the kids are always local even if wearing the kits from each of the sides playing.
Game on!
What’s with the US new kits? Are they going for a Peru look there?
Shit–man is that English captain FAST! Goal.
We’re IN
Ouch. That’s what I get for being a smartass. That was too easy.
Well…that didn’t take long. Gerrard makes it one zip…with some horrid defending by the US.
Within the first 5 minutes of play, too. Come on USA.
My brother’s a Liverpool supporter; i’m a Gunner’s fan. So that would be one of the few times i’m cheering Gerrard on. Go on, son.
Edit: I’m finding the US kit odd, too. The dark blue with diagonal white looks more like a Scotland shirt.
It’s going to be a long day.
Did anybody seriously think we were goingto beat England. Come on. That would be like them beating us at basketball.
