Looking at live scores, Verdasco is walloping Monaco. & things aren’t looking to good for Mahut either.
After winning the first set comfortably, Marina now down 3-0 in the second. Aaaaarrrggghhh!

Awesome John! Love how he’s not giving up!
Over here, they have just switched to the Soderling/Harrison game. Looks like Harrison (one of those players where you vaguely know the name) I would love to wach, but I’m off to have some fun in Auckland tomorrow so I’d better get some sleep!
That was stressful!!!
& Marina lost in the end. Never mind - next its the grass season which is her best surface.
Federer looks really strong. He could win this thing if he stays as strong as this.
Got my Tsonga fix today!! I think he is going to have to work at it to beat Warinka, but it should be a good match.
Glad to hear Fed played well. I really want him to win just one more slam, just cause.
Djokovic is looking pretty unbeatable at this point. Much like Del Potro was looking a few years ago when I saw him in the first couple rounds of the US Open.
En fuego!
And down goes Clijsters! Clay was never her best surface and she’s had no time to recover from a serious ankle injury, so maybe it was unreasonable to expect her to turn in a strong performance this year.
I didn’t get to see the Zvonareva match but heard it was very exciting.
I miss all the good drama!
Del Potro vs. Djokovic. Who’s your money on?
Novak for me thank you very much.
Thoughts on Nadal? Supposedly he’s looking “human” in his first two rounds. There’s no way he can win the whole thing if he’s going to be as vulnerable as he is supposedly playing so far.
Djokovic has to lose sometime, but I don’t know how well-prepared del Potro is for a best-of-five, nevermind that Djokovic is definitely the best player right now. Jon Wertheim from Sports Illustrated wrote that about a third of his readership (who have written in) are picking del Potro to win. They’re right to see this as a dangerous match and del Potro did win a clay tournament this year, but he hasn’t done that well against the top players during his comeback. If he’s at full strength this could be a great match.
I’m just following the scores live online and haven’t seen much of the actual matches, but Nadal got another fairly stiff test yesterday. He was never in real danger of losing, but he got pushed to 5-5 in the first set and was down 5-1 in the third set before he rallied to win in a tiebreak. He admitted to being nervous in his play. Meanwhile Djokovic hasn’t had any problems yet and Federer is cruising against Tipsarevic in the third round. If he closes this out, he’ll get Wawrinka or Tsonga.
Wozniacki is in a lot of trouble against Hantuchova, as she lost the first set in a rout and is down a break early in the second. But Sharapova did the same thing yesterday and then won 11 straight games to win the match. I think she was actually down two breaks in the second (4-1) before she caught fire.
Wow, quite a few good matchups for the 3rd round.
Djoker and Potro
Tsonga and Wawrinka(who I always things is a cool guy)
Should be interesting.
That’s all she wrote for Wozniacki, 6-1, 6-3. She made it a little more competitive in the second set but she was already down 0-4 by the time she woke up. Sam Stosur also lost in three sets to Dulko. I’d like to see her do better in slams, and her ranking is going to take a hit. Schiavone moved on to the fourth round; her opponent had trouble with the heat, I think. Mattek-Sands is out, so the only remaining American woman is Vania King (she has to play Kvitova, the #9 seed, in the next round). The last U.S. man is Mardy Fish, who has Gilles Simon. Querrey lost early in another major, as he went down to Ljubicic yesterday.
Ferrer vs. Monfils could be interesting in the next round. Tsonga and Wawrinka are on the court now.
I tried streaming the live feed from TennisChannel.com, but while I can see the Venture Capital ad just fine, it hangs up after that.
Rats!
I have taped the matches, but I wish they’d show more variety on TTC/ESPN2. I mean, with all the players still left in the draw, do they have to broadcast Nadal and Sharapova’s match three separate times?
At least now that most of the US players are out, we don’t have to be tortured by watching Roddick lose when there’s a great match being played by Ferrer on the neighboring court…that you can hear but not see. ARGH!
Tsonga is close to finishing off Wawrinka in straight sets. That should leave an exciting match against Federer next round. This has to go in the books as a huge disappointment for Wozniacki. Clay isn’t her best surface, but this tournament was so wide open for her- it was especially lacking in the time-tested big hitters who’ve given her trouble in the past, like the Williamses and Clijsters, and she didn’t even come close.
Tiebreak, now, though.
Nice rally by Wawrinka. He won the tiebreak and just blew through Tsonga in the fourth, so he’s got the momentum going into set five. Tsonga is a great physical specimen but his conditioning may be letting him down here.
Okay here we go! Del Potro vs. Djokovic and Novak was in danger of losing his serve in the first, but he came back and saved his service.
