2012 Masters

This is the most I’ve seen Bubba Watson play. He’s quite entertaining, isn’t he?

My money is on Bubba.

Oosthuizen is sloooooooww.

Ooooh. Game on!!

It’s over. Good for BW!!

Time to praise the Lord.

That recovery from moon base alpha was a worthy shot to win a major. Well done Bubba.

A great tournament. Could’ve gone many different ways.

This was my favorite masters ever. Why?

Because I wanted Bubbba from the get-go. He was the one who finished every day top 5. This masters was nuts, so turbulent, the one name that was always there was Bubba. Yet, he was totally ignored until today, and honestly, attention started coming to him after the albatross; yeah he was caught in the crossfire. You have no idea how happy I am, it feels like I’ve won the masters. I’m a lefty, don’t like Phil, so that’s definitely contributing.

I knew Bubba would win from the second I saw him save himself for par on 18 on day 1: That’s how a champion plays, Bubba proved it. He screwed up sooo many times, but he always recovered. I will admit when louis went right on the last hole, I THOUGHT he caught a lucky break; but bubba’s recovery showed me why he’s the champ. I feel empty, I just want it to be masters 2013, forget the other majors.

That aside I think tiger’s gonna win British, he’s gotta to salvage his career. I hope bubba wins one of the others…

Hell of a tournament. First time I ever recorded the entire final round of any golf tournament. Will watch it in detail sometime this week.

Bubba Watson. Wow. Just a rock-solid round capped off by an incredible recovery on the second playoff hole. That’s the kind of shot that wins championships. That defines careers. That builds Hall of Fame credentials. That (sorry, there’s no avoiding it) Tiger Woods used to make all the time.

He’s been knocking at the door a lot, but never had a breakthrough moment, the point where the star becomes a superstar. And how he has it.

Meanwhile Phil Mickelson showed maturity in recovering from the triple bogey to finish third, but unfortunately he may simply be too old at this point to make a run for #1 again. Lee Westwood, who hasn’t made much noise lately, was also third. Sergio Garcia’s slow burn continues. Henrik Stenson, who quickly learned the difference between a great round and a great round except for one hole, learned the difference between a good tournament and a good three rounds. (Colin Montgomerie could teach him a few things about that.) Charl Schwartzel was a non-factor and a sobering reminder of why we have had so few presenting-the-green-jacket-to-himself jokes.

As for Woods…the older he gets, the better he used to be. Considering what tournament this is, I don’t think anyone can deny that now.

But still…a major winner. Named Bubba. We’ve officially entered a new age.

Can’t wait to see what the rankings look like tomorrow.

No changes in the top three spots. Rory really only needed to beat Luke to take over #1 spot (and it was that close)

Westwood closed the gap (could have overtaken with a win) but now is still a distant 3rd.

Bubba is a definitive 4th in rankings.

this is what the top 15 should look like tomorrow

1	Luke Donald
2	Rory McIlroy
3	Lee Westwood
4	Bubba Watson
5	Hunter Mahan
6	Steve Stricker
7	Martin Kaymer
8	Tiger Woods
9	Phil Mickelson
10	Justin Rose
11	Adam Scott
12	Charl Schwartzel
13	Webb Simpson
14	Matt Kuchar
15	Graeme McDowell

Stricker and Kaymer are on a fast track out of the top 10 if they don’t turn their game around soon

How does Tiger get above Phil?

Because Tiger had a big lead on Phil going into this week. Rankings are not based on this week alone.

And Tiger got a lot of points (IMO a travesty) for winning an exhibition with 18 players :dubious: in December.

Sigh, looks like a great Masters and I didn’t get to see one shot. At least I got to spend a week with my girls and there will be plenty more Masters in the years to come.

Don’t know how unusual this is,but the only time Bubba was in the lead by himself was after the final shot of the tourney.

The only time it counts!

I think it happens often in other sports, particularly in extra innings, or overtime scenarios
