2012 NCAA March Madness (Men's) thread

Baylor’s got a team full of McDonald’s All-Americans yet they’re being carried by a little Canadian bitch. Someone should level him if he does that raccoon eyes thing after hitting a three again.

RE: Heslip

Are you fucking kidding me? This kid is having an NBA quality game.

They were just saying that he shows up early to practice and shoots 3s until he’s made 150 of them. Not attempts, makes. Then after practice he makes another 150.

He’s gonna set a record tonight.

Get ready, Hoosiers … we’re coming for you.

Well, Heslip didn’t ever touch the ball again after my last post, so no record for him.

And so far the NM-Louisville game is looking to be a by-the-numbers snoozer.

The Lobos found at least one of their cojones for a few minutes to make it a game again, but once the clock went under 4 minutes, they seem to have all thought the game was over and sort of stopped playing.

Still, in basketball a 7 or 8 point difference can be made up in seconds. I’d love to see them pull this off.

They got to within 2, but then lost their damn minds again. Louisville advances.

Go Wolfpack!

Being that I live in Las Vegas, the newspaper here prints the spread for each game, and I’m not sure the guys who make the lines were watching the same Norfolk State team I watched: for some reason, Florida is a 14 point favorite over the Spartans.

All the other lines seemed pretty reasonable to me, except I think G’Town will beat my ACC-mates NC State by more than the 4 point spread. I just don’t think the 'Pack will be able to hang in there late in the game.

Hell yeah! Revenge is a dish best served BLUE!

I’m thinking that’s gonna be the best game of the bunch on Friday, too. I’m pulling for Kentucky; my dislike of Indiana goes all the way back to Bobby Knight’s pre-chair-throwing days.

NC State managed to get Sims in foul trouble early AND kept him from scoring, and that was what got them the win. Go ACC!

Ddamn the Billikens are a scrappy bunch. Seems like nearly every time the Spartans have the ball, St. Louis forces a turnover or grabs the rebound. Hard to believe the game is this close with St. Louis shooting under 25% from the field.

With picking the NC State upset today, President Obama’s bracket at espn.com is in the 99.3% percentile. He was in the 99% at this time last year as well.

How 'bout that Pack!!!

St. Louis did a great job of staying in the game against the Spartans, but they were pretty clearly outmatched, especially by Draymond Green.

ETA: I’m conflicted about this next game; I’d like to root for the ACC team, but I’ve got such a soft spot for the underdog that I can’t help but want to see the Bluejays win.

No surprise that the Tarheels advanced.

Norfolk State stinking up Omaha this much is a surprise tho.

Grats Bobcats!

Basically, it’s a matter of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that is the negotiated agreement between the owners and the player’s union. The NFLP[layers]A[ssociation] agreed on a point that players would be eligible to enter the draft. The NBA players have not made a similar agreement. They may have an age limit (probably 18) but not an experience agreement. It is doubtful that any of that will change.

(Aside: the way the NHL used to be run, kids as young as 13 could become property of one team. Bobby Orr was one such talent.)

Maurice Clarrett (shithead, criminal running back) from Ohio State tried to challenge the legality of the CBA agreement in court. He lost. I thought he had no case.

For the NFLPA to say it’s because of body development is just window dressing. The NFL wants the NCAA to have the role of it’s farm league. To the NBA it’s not so important.

Xavier gets the win!

Purdue was an 8 point underdog, but they currently lead Kansas by 9! Go Boilermakers!

The NBA and the players union have had a negotiated age limit for years.

The NBA fully supports it because prior to the rule they were spending a whole lot of money on unproven talent, and it’s free advertising for the future NBA players.
