2012 NFL Playoffs Discussion Thread

I know the game was pretty much over but that last TD by foster was just atrocious defense. You can’t play hard to the end of a playoff game? Saving your strength for next week?

I thought that was pretty good too. But looks like Houston is going to take this one.

I realize the odds are against Denver, but really guys, all they have to do is have a good day to win. It isn’t the binary mismatch some are portraying it to be.

Nifty footwork to stay in bounds on the Foster run, but it really didn’t look like anybody wanted to tackle him. This one is out of reach, time to gear up for the Main Event…
GEAUX SAINTS!

I picked the Saints to win, and I expect them to win*. I’ll be rooting for the Lions, though, it’s WAY better for my 49ers that way.

*: but not easily, I think the Lions will cover the 10½ points.

Happens a lot, and it’s puzzling. Are they unaware of the down? Or of what happens after a failed 4th down? Do they care more about the INT than their team’s field position?

Well, it looks like that over is in jeopardy.

WTF is Favre doing in the building. Who does that hurt? Gotta help the Saints right?

This game has less defense than the pro bowl.

Good call on the fumble.

It was clearly a fumble, but the refs whistled the play dead before anyone recovered the ball. I don’t see how they can justify giving it to Detroit.

Turnovers. Turnovers. Turnovers. Nice job by the Lions defense of taking advantage and playing smart to get that fumble recovery.

If it was a fumble (and I agree that it was), why did the refs blow the whistle? That recovery would have likely been returned for a TD.

I spaced out for a minute there, why do the Saints still have the ball?

He’s the emergency quarterback. For either team.

They don’t. The Lions went 3 and out and punted after the turnover.

Got it, I was texting and it happened so fast I missed it entirely.

That is the most ridiculous penalty ever. In contrast to the hit in the Cincy-Houston game this is a joke.

Yikes. Saints are lucky to still be in this game. They could be down 28-10 instead of 14-10 after giving up two fumbles. Still, we get the ball to start the 2nd half, and can take the lead with a solid drive…

A football question. They made a mention about a team having so many comebacks during the season. What’s the official definition of a comeback? Obviously you have to be behind and then end up with a higher score. But how late in the game do you have to be behind for it to be considered a comeback? The second half? The fourth quarter? I don’t think anybody would consider it a comeback if a team regained the lead in the first ten minutes of the game.

The spot they gave the Saints on that play was a fucking late Christmas present. Just hand them a fucking first down, whydontcha?
