The Giants certainly wanted it more. In the playoffs, defense wins. Just like in baseball, in the playoffs, pitching wins.
There’s not much to like about Coughlin except he is a good fit for a NY team. If he was coaching the Jets they would be playing for a Super Bowl bid.
Eli is an enigma. He is certainly one of the better QB’s in the NFL but he will occasionally do something that looks really stupid. I guess you’d have to be in his head. When he was in his early NFL days there were statistician with all kind of elaborate metrics that predicted that he wouldn’t be a successful NFL QB. He’s proved that wrong. Good for him.
Anyone know why Baltimore lost that timeout when Ed Reed got injured? I’ve never seen that happen so early in a game before, just in the last few minutes of a half.
I’ve known Packers are a great team and Rodgers, an awesome QB. I’ve come to resigned to the fact, especially after last years playoff. So I am really surprised I’m enjoying this sooooo much… it’s like getting the seven year itch scratched. Da Bears!
Vick lead Atlanta in Jan. '03 (same year as NYG @ SF), the Vikings beat GB in Jan. '05 (Moss mooned the crowd!), and the two NYG wins. The Packers wins are both against Seattle (Hasselbeck said after winning the coin toss for OT, “we want the ball, and we’re going to win!” in '03), and a blowout in Jan. '08.
That was incredible. I felt the **Giants **would win but that was a pretty convincing win and overcoming at least one really terrible call by the Zebras on the early fumble recovery.
I like our chances against the 49’ers next week and expect the Pats to win. So 2007 rematch with any luck is in the cards.
Fair enough. Especially as SF has a very good D, I know it can go either way, I just have a good feeling about the **Giants **right now. It helps when the team is playing with house money and was counted out before the season started and then again after the mid-season run of losses and of course they had no chance against might Green Bay.
Yea. Don’t bet against the guy that has nothing to lose. Geez, today they were firing on all cylinders. They seem to be on a mission. Interesting to see if they can maintain it but the confidence that this game gives them is almost scary.
Th Niners have already beaten the Giants, so there’s no reason to think that they can’t do it again. San Fran is a tough tough tough team - how many rushing touchdowns have they given up this year? (3)
I do like the Giants chances; I was at Candlestick rooting for them 2 months ago when they came up short. I feel that a big factor will be whether or not they can hold on to the ball, SF won their game yesterday, imho because of their TO margin.
Go Blue!!!
You seem to not want to recognize that the Giants outplayed the Packers. This wasn’t a case of “they didn’t beat us, we beat ourselves.” The Giants were better last night. It happens. 15-1 in the regular season is fantastic but it’s not an automatic BYE to the Super Bowl.
This Giants team has now waylaid two of the best regular seasons in NFL history.
The 49ers have a ferocious D and it should be a good game next week.
Yes, the Giants were better cause GB was just awful. The Giants did not face the same team that won 19 in a row. Had those Packers shown up last night I think the game would have been close.
In short, there are several teams in the NFL (even 8-8 teams) who could have beat the GB team that showed up last night.
I’m actually enjoying how little credit the Packers’ fans are giving the Giants for this outcome… it gives me that 2007 feeling all over again. Has anybody thought about signing David Tyree this week, just for kicks?
Giants are a good team and played well last night. Did they beat the same Packer team that went 15-1 and had the 2nd best offense in the history of the NFL? Yes and No. The same Packer players were on the field but it was not the same team that dominated offensively this season. They never turned the ball over that much and Rodgers never played that poorly.
Though I have to cheer for the Niners I do think that the Giants will end up in the SB with the Patriots.
I thought the Giants played great AND the Packers beat themselves. Rogers reminded me a little of the Broncos behind Kyle Orton- his guys just would.not.catch.his.passes. I thought his head was going to explode right there on the field when for the nth time a perfectly executed play turned into the end of the drive because it bounced off the receiver’s numbers.
I’m very impressed with the Giants. Na na Packers, I like you guys and your team but the Broncos won more playoff games this year
