Ah, yes, just like in Super Bowl XLII.
Ok, the clear view of the Giants punter running with joy and yelling “I’m going to the f@$&in’ Super Bowl!” just made my day…and I’m not a Giants fan (but I was rooting for them today).
You really need to do something about that bitterness. You’re a Packers fan, right? At least if the Giants win you can say you lost to the best.
I’m psyched. I think it’ll be a very competitive Super Bowl, and I think the Giants will win it. And I think they’ll win it by ten.
Giants 31 Patriots 21
Great game all around. I’m glad the Giants won, but the 49ers have nothing to be ashamed about (except maybe Kyle Williams.)
No booing while our national anthem is being sung.
To be fair ive been a lifelong hater of all New York teams.
PATRIOTS 31
GIANTS 21
Not sure about that. Alex Smith was pretty dismal.
The Giants D had a lot to do with that, and he did have those two nice TDs to Davis. They couldn’t have expected him to carry them.
Ah yes, the inferiority complex strikes again…
Makes sense that in a game like that, the losing team would be the one that fucked up first in overtime.
The playoffs delivered excitement every week this year, with a suitably epic ending to both conference championship games. AND we get a Giants-Patriots rematch in the Super Bowl. I’d rather see my Saints in it, but it ought to be another great game.
Watching the game the 49ers defense seemed amazing. They weren’t shutting down Manning every time, but it seemed like when they needed to they shut him down. Looking at the box score I can’t believe he got as many yards as he did, but in spite of that that defense really should be in the Super Bowl and Alex Smith should be backing up McNabb. I agree with Omni.
Of course, the Giants defense was just as good. It just doesn’t seem as impressive to be that good against Smith, as it is against Manning. And, their special teams was better. So, they deserved the win. And, it will make for a fun Super Bowl matchup.
It was a fun game. Kind of sucky for it to turn on such a bad special teams play, but still good. (I am talking about the stupid kneeing of the ball. Not the OT one; that was a really good tackle to cause the fumble.)
So, my only guess for the Super Bowl is high scoring. The Ravens defense is probably better than the Giants. The Ravens offense is far worse than the Giants. And, the same with the Pats and 49ers.
With that guess 14-7 is in the offing.
Very evenly matched teams. The Giants out-49ered the 49ers. They played patient, mistake-free football with fantastic defense and didn’t turn the ball over.
That was a really painful way to lose though. If the offense is stopped again, that’s fine. But to lose on 2 botched punt receiving plays when the defense was so unbelievably good is kind of excruciating.
As a Giants fan, I gotta say… I’m stunned. I never saw this coming. I never got the sense all season long that this was a team with a Super Bowl run in them.
Since I’ve been completely wrong all season, should I SAY publicly that I think Tom Brady will give my Giants the ass-whupping I firmly believed he’d give them last time?
Or will the fates KNOW I’m trying to use reverse psychology?
Oh well… go Giants! You’ve ALREADY soared way above my highest expectations.
Giants don’t lose conference championships, but damn if that game didn’t age me ten years.
Loved the slow-mo shot of the holder (punter) screaming “motherfucking Superbowl!”
Lordy Loo, I do believe we have a scape goat!
May Kyle Williams go down along side Bill Buckner and Steve Bartman. Actually, scratch that. Rodger Craig will do.
Grr
Two, actually.
I was thinking the 49ers return man and the Ravens kicker might wanna hop a plane to Florida and hide out in Trey Junkins’ house for the next nine years or so.
Wow, that was quite an exciting day of football.
True, True, Ellis.

Nobody likes to lose. We get that. But neither Harbaugh brother needs to put out an instructional video on doing so gracefully. And this from someone that actually was rooting for both. Seriously, man up.
