2012 NFL Playoffs Discussion Thread

Looks like a good call on the field and it looks like Decker will be missing the first 4-6 weeks of 2012. This is going to be the alternative to concussions under the current rules.

ETA: Incidentally, Harrison absolutely shot at that knee on purpose. He’s a fucking scum bag.

Is there some reason the Chargers need to keep coming up in a playoff thread? They’re not in.

What is Jim Nantz smoking?

During the review, he kept saying that it was going to be a 20-yard completion or a takeaway, but it was clear to me from the very first replay that an incomplete pass was the most likely ruling.

ETA:

And two big pass plays in a row by Denver for a TD.

Tebow!

I know his throwing motion is awkward as hell, but he can drop them in exactly the right spot assuming he has 9 seconds to wind up.

TOUCHDOWN!

With one of the most obvious of the weird throwing motions Tebow has.

EXTRA POINT!

Broncos lead. Hell of a comeback.

Totally disagree. It was never a fumble, but that looked like a classic “receiver established himself and made a football move” situation. He wasn’t going to the ground as he was completing the catch, he was going to the ground after being kneecapped. That said, seen in full speed it’s a lot closer to simultaneous.

Because all the guys they gave away ARE in.

Seems like ONLY on deep balls though. He can toss it in a bucket from 35 yards out, but ask him to hit a tire hanging on a rope and he’s likely to break a window across the street.

I’ve never (in some 40 years of following football) liked the Steelers, but I still would like to ask: where the hell is Harrison expected to make a tackle? Somewhere within three inches of the ball carrier’s navel? Or what?

Well, i’ll look again if they put it up online somewhere, but it looked to me like he never had control of the ball.

So what? Start a different thread about it. This thread is about the playoff games.

Derek Anderson had that quirk. Hit a receiver streaking down 50 yards in the hands, overthrow an RB running a swing 5 yards out by about 8 feet over his head…

Tebow’s windup actually seems a little bit quicker to me than it used to.

If Tebow pulls this one out though I will gay marry him.

“This is what they do so well. The Broncos have a lot of ways to throw the ball down the field.”

Immediately followed by the other announcer saying, “The longest pass completion of Tebow’s career.”

I know which one of those announcers is first up against the wall.

TOUCHDOWN!

Tebow! Tebow!!!

I’ve now determined that defensive coordinators everywhere are idiots.

Yeah, I conceded as much in my original statement. The rules are going to lead to more of this, but the fact remains that Harrison plays to injure people first and make tackles second. No idea how you legislate that away, but it’s a fact. Personally, if I’m a Bronco OL I do whatever it takes to ruin Harrison’s knee as payback.

Ben doesn’t look good after that sack.

And that pass didn’t look good either.

I’m Tebowing! Hey, gimme a break, I gotta do something after my team went out with a whimper to the Texans yesterday!

A Bronco just gave an extra twist to Rothliesberger’s ankle. Does that count?

Anywhere between the knees and neck is pretty much fair game for a tackle. Wrapping up the legs is fine too if you have to make a diving grab for some dude’s legs just to stop him. That’s different from having the ability to tackle a guy everywhere but deliberately attacking from the front right to his knees.

I don’t know why no teams retaliate against Harrison. Some tackle should wreck that guy’s career. I never root for injury but I would make an exception here.

Oh god this is so good. Pittsburgh tebowed out of the playoffs. Please please please hold up.
