2014 NLL Thread

Well, the first two weekends of the new NLL season are now in the books and all nine teams have had a chance to show off their new looks in the retooled league.

Over the offseason a new seven-year CBA was agreed to which saw rosters reduced by two players, the regular season growing to 18 games, and a new, somewhat confusing playoff format.

Long story short, a bunch of old, slow guys got cut and a bunch of young, fast guys are in.

To catch you up, here’s a few links:

Action gets back underway starting on Friday with a full slate of games to be played this weekend. Most every game is available to be watched live, for free, on The Lacrosse Network’s You Tube page and a handful of games are also being broadcast on TSN/TSN 2 in Canada and ESPN2 in the USA.

To get you fired up for the six games being played this weekend, here’s the Top 10 Plays of Week 2.

Week 4 summary, going into a rather pivotal early season series. With seven games on tap, the Minnesota Swarm are still chasing their first win, the Rochester Knighthawks and Edmonton Rush are still undefeated, and everyone else is right in the thick of things. Should be a good weekend!

For the second week in a row, John Grant Jr. of the Colorado Mammoth made ESPN’s highlights of the week. Last week it was an eye-popping one-handed goal. This time it was a nifty behind-the-back goal to beat the Calgary Roughnecks in overtime.

That dude has some skills.

Going into Week 7 on the schedule, the Vancouver Stealth are still struggling to draw crowds. I was expecting that the move from Seattle would pay dividends, but so far, not so much. Hopefully they can grow attendance as the season wears on.
