Georgia, our fucktard of a Republican governor is fighting Obamacare with everything he’s got. Even passed a regulation refusing to allow ACA guides in state offices.
I did not realize that, and (combined with the minimal penalties for not having insurance) it’s idiotic.
A couple of smart guys have put up a site with read access (you can’t actually enroll) to a lot of the databases used for ACA compliant plans. You might get an rough idea of what is available in your states. No guarantees.
Employer-based plan covers us as well as Miss DrumBum in the US. Surprisingly enough, I got a ~$400 rebate in the last paycheck that - I was told - was anticipated savings as a result of ACA success in California ( our home of record with regards to healthcare ).
Wow. I work for a state school and our governor doesn’t go to bat at all for state employees, in the university system or otherwise (but the legislature voted themselves a raise last year). Good for your governor on that one.
I’ll have private insurance through my employer. Same plan as this year. Surprisingly, my cost for that didn’t go up this year (dental and vision did, though, both of which I do use, so kept)
Same here, except that I get the private plan at no extra cost so I did take it (but have not yet had to use it). If I want the private plan to cover my family I’d have to pay extra to the tune of about £25 a month, but it adds so little to what the NHS provides that we haven’t bothered.
Universal Health Care (NHS) for me, TYVM.
I’m self employed and haven’t really looked into any effect this will have on me.
We were just about to drop my plan and put me on my gf’s plan (which last year changed to allow SOs) but her plan has since changed drastically and this is no longer possible.
I get my healthcare through the Veterans Administration, but I also have private Blue Cross/Blue Shield from my previous employer (fed gov’t) that I pay for. I no longer live near a VA, so I kept the BC/BS in case I needed some local health care.
If the price goes way up, I’ll drop it. Obamacare states that if you qualify for VA health care, you don’t need anything else.
My wife and I are FEHB.
Our nanny has individually-purchased insurance, and we’re currently trying to help her figure out what that means for her next year.
I don’t think I saw this in the poll choices -
I am retired and my health insurance is through my retirement fund (Medicare part B) supplementing my Medicare (parts A and D, I guess).
Bob
The decision to go without insurance wouldn’t be without some risks of downside. I do think I can start a policy directly with an insurer at any time, even I don’t go through the exchanges. And I know that there can be a delay before benefits kick in. It’s just that I can’t be denied a policy anymore based on pre-existing conditions.
It’s just that after years of paying into insurance without receiving any benefit, having a 70% increase in premiums to continue paying in without receiving any benefit is a bit of a tough pill to swallow. All I really want is a policy that will protect me from bankruptcy if a major illness comes along.
If I like my insurance, I can keep it.
I like my company’s insurance, so I’m going to keep it.
Since I was recently laid off, and will no longer be under any employer-provided care, I’m going with Obamacare. It may not be perfect but it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than COBRA. Thank goodness I live in California, and the CoveredCA web site worked perfectly fine.
You are me. Five pounds. Blah blah blah.
Mine got cancelled, then I think the new one is twice as much but included vision and dental…
I haven’t seen a pay check with the new insurance premiums taken out yet…
5 THOUSAND DOLLAR DEDUCTIBLES. YAY! WEE! WOOT!
