I dont see it.
And this is why I’m so annoyed with the Sanders campaign. If he is seriously still in the race because he thinks he can win, why is pisssing away time getting involved in a house primary battle? The Sanders campaign has been about conspiracy theories and a persecution complex from day one. The DNC is against me, not enough debates, times of the debates, coin flips in Iowa, voter registration in New York, polls in Arizona. The media ‘never covers Bernie’ yet they gloat about the huge rallies they get over the pathetic turnout Clinton gets, all covered on the news.
Bernie Sanders is trying for the ultimate in Hail Mary passes and he’s taking time to complain to the referee about the antics of the mascot.
Congressional math. Learn it. Love it.
Because he needs a scapegoat for his losing. It couldn’t possibly be that the majority of Democrats prefer Hillary, no matter what the numbers say. It was that nasty, evil Establishment that did it to him.
At this point all Bernie is doing is hurting his cause by turning people against him and hurting the democrats by turning his followers against them. All that overtone window shit goes out the actual window when you are just pissing people off.
Funny how Bernie was an old fool, a Nader, not to be backing progressives in the Congress to try to reform the Democratic Party; but when he does, he’s vindictive and deserves to be kicked out of the caucus.
Sure.
You’ve made a straw man argument: you imply that what had been said (by me or by any other poster) was ‘Bernie Sanders is backing progressive candidates, and that’s a vindictive thing to do!’
Of course that’s not what I said, and as far as I can see, not what anyone else has said.
If Bernie Sanders had been “backing progressives in the Congress to try to reform the Democratic Party,” as you claim, I’d say Go, Bernie! Because that would be a very worthy endeavor–one I’d applaud.
What he’s actually doing, seems a little less noble than that. He’s trying to get rid of one particular Representative who he sees as being his political enemy. That’s why the word “vindictive” seems appropriate, here.
In addition to the “nyah nyah Debbie” effort, apparently he’s endorsed and is offering cash to three other progressives who all happen to have been in a strong position to win election even before he got involved. (per DSeid’s post, a few above this one.) That’s good, I guess. It would mean more if he were helping those who actually need help, but…at least he’s making the effort.
And it’s just as certain that any Republican misdemeanor would be used by Democrats. Welcome to the world of nasty grown up politics.
As for what Republicans will take from this footage of Sanders supporters? That Democrats are capable of voter suppression/fraud. Note that I said that’s what Republicans will take from the footage not that the allegations are necessarily true.*
- the allegations are probably true to some extent
No claim was made that Democrats are above using footage that would reflect badly on Republicans. Therefore your remarks don’t seem relevant to the discussion, which concerned the question of harm being done by Sanders supporters to the prospects for electing a Democrat to the White House.
The claim was made that Republicans will use any footage of misdemeanors at the Democratic Convention as sign that Democrats are evil or whatever. Pointing out that the Democrats are just as likely to do the same in reverse is exactly relevant. It shows you are pointing out the obvious.
It would have been nice to have had that be one-sided!
Crybaby Sanders supporters filing a nuisance lawsuit to extend California’s voter registration deadline.
Doesn’t this whining ever get old? Are the Bernie Bros going to throw chairs in the courtroom if they don’t get their way?
It is time for some reform in the Democratic Party but it has nothing to do with the party chairperson. No more independents should be allowed to attempt to hijack the party.
The California Democratic Party has actually opened the primary to unaffiliated voters — and that’s still not good enough for the Sanders brigade. This is the part that really pisses me off:
Translation: “The Sanders campaign is suing to compel state elections officials to educate Sanders voters on how to support their candidate, rather than leaving it to the voters to do it themselves.”
Seriously, I went online in my state (Oregon) and figured out exactly what I needed to do to support my candidate in advance of election day. How hard is it?
The combination of entitlement and venom (“We hate you, you corrupt Democratic Party! Now change your rules to accommodate us!”) is often stunning to behold.
Bullshit. Entryism is a perfectly legitimate political tactic, a venerably American tactic with many precedents, and a tactic as old as any politics more complicated than “Do what the King says.” And no “independents” can “hijack the party” unless they exist in numbers of millions and are aroused – in which case it is suicide for the party to drive them out. Would it not have been suicide for the GOP to drive out the Tea Partiers?
“these people” ?
Sanders names Cornel West, Rep. Keith Ellison, Bill McKibben,James Zogby, and Deborah Parker as his platform representatives.
Cornel West? Really? Whatever Bernie. Write as much progressive unicorn fantasies as you want into the platform. Just go away after you get your ass kicked in 2 weeks.
Nope. You’ve missed the point, which was that Sanders supporters were doing things that helped the GOP. And of course the implicit further point was that maybe they should stop doing that.
It was nothing to do with any claims of the righteousness or nobility or likelihood to exploit events, of members of one party as compared with the other.
Cornel West? Sure, why not? He’s a good socialist and a respected academic and public intellectual.
Over at* Daily Kos*, the editor/publisher/whatever, Markos, has posted an essay “11 reasons why Bernie Sanders lost this thing fair and square.” which is well worth a read.
That’s a great cite.
